Description

A fun family vacation turns into an apocalyptic nightmare when a couple and their young son find themselves trapped in the Irish countryside during an international crisis. With all contact outside the country gone, all electricity and all except horse-powered vehicles useless and desperate bands of outlaws roaming the Emerald Isle, the time has come for one soft American family to reach deep within for the reserve of brains and courage to survive.

Reviews

  • A Gripping Novel but…

A Post-Apocalyptic World in rural Ireland is a good hook. Centered on an American family in a foreign culture is another good hook. I enjoyed the book and its conclusion. However, once the conflict was resolved, I decided I was not invested enough to read eight more books in the series. Another problem with the book was labeling the villains as gypsies. The Roma people continue to suffer from discrimination even today. I was surprised that such a prolific author would use a stereotype in one of her books.

Free Falling is such an interesting book. The endearing family were always in some sort of trouble during their vacation to Ireland. There were parts that made me laugh and parts that made me cry. I think I felt every emotion while reading this book. A very good book.

Great read up until the end. And then it leaves you hanging wondering what happens next. A must read and then to read the next book too.

Although I learned some interesting items about EMPs, the book was mainly about survivors after a blast too far to be nuclear aftermath. It’s just a story of their twisted vacation.
