Description

The Bachelor meets The Runaway Bride in this addictive romance novel about a reality TV producer falling for her would-be star: a Montana heartthrob who wants nothing to do with the show.

“Quintessential Lauren Layne goodness—a sassy, feel-good and entertaining love story infused with laughter, sizzling chemistry and heartfelt romance.”—USA Today

Jordan Carpenter thinks she’s finally found the perfect candidate for Jilted, a new dating show about runaway grooms: firefighter Luke Elliott, a known player who’s left not one but three brides at the altar. The only problem? Luke refuses to answer Jordan’s emails or return her calls. Which is how she ends up on a flight to Montana to recruit him in person. It’s not Manhattan, but at least the locals in Lucky Hollow seem friendly . . . except for Luke, who’s more intense—and way hotter—than the slick womanizer Jordan expected.

Eager to put the past behind him, Luke has zero intention of following this gorgeous, fast-talking city girl back to New York. But before he can send her packing, Jordan’s everywhere: at his favorite bar, the county fair, even his exes’ book club. Annoyingly, everyone in Lucky Hollow seems to like her—and deep down, she’s starting to grow on him too. But the more he fights her constant pestering, the more Luke finds himself wishing that Jordan would kick off her high heels and make herself comfortable in his arms.

First of all, I bought the book and it was well worth it. Jordan and Luke's story had mystery, intrigue, mild heat and a wonderful supporting cast. The story moved along at a fast pace. The small town/big city aspect of the story was really relatable as I grew up in a small town and moved to a large urban area where I currently live. If you buy this book, I don't think you will be disappointed. Can't wait for the next book in this series.

Ready to Run is a fun read about finding love in unexpected places. Luke our hero and Jordan our heroine are introduced as adversaries, more or less, but I liked both characters from the start. Their journey from people who didn't get along to romantic partners was a pleasure to read. Also, the town itself is a great place and the townspeople are all really fun and add an extra layer of interest to the book. I am looking forward to more books in this series and I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance. I received an ARC in exchange of an honest review.
  • A Fun Read

I loved reading Ready to Run by Lauren Layne, book one in her new I Do, I Don’t series. As the sales line says, it is definitely the Bachelorette meets the Runaway Groom. New York City assistant, Jordan Carpenter is trying to secure Luke Elliot, a three-time runaway groom, as the star for an up and coming television show, Jilted. Luke, a firefighter in the small town of Lucky Hollow, Montana, does not want the details of why he was a no-show groom to get out to the public. Coming to Lucky Hollow is like going home for former small town girl, as many of the residents befriend her. The more she gets to know to Luke the more she respects, understands and falls in love with him. I really loved reading this book and had trouble putting this book down. Ms. Layne wove a wonderful story, drawing me in and not letting go until I read the last page. I highly recommend this book to other readers and can’t wait to read the next book in this series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Jordan is a producer on a TV reality series. She is searching for the perfect man to attract the women. Also, he needs to have left them at the altar. Why would she be attracted to that? Luke is the man in question. Talking to him, and the folks around him, only brings more questions. If he is a runaway groom - why are the ladies loving him? This is a seriously sweet and hot story. I love the characters and cannot wait for more in the I Do, I Don't series. So much fun, and yet plenty of heat to still call it romance. ***This early copy was given in exchange for an honest review, by Netgalley and its publishers.
  • Romance at its finest

As with every story Ms Layne writes, Luke and Jordan's story, the first in the new I Do, I Don't series, is touching, romantic, with drama and a touch of intrigue thrown in...a truly winning combination. The couple evokes an emotional connection with readers that is trademark Lauren Layne...sure to create a heartwarming reaction. There is a vulnerability and kindness to Luke that touched me deeply. The Firefighter who has so many layers under the surface, and such goodness overall, that it was difficult to let the emotions not take over, without including Jordan's hidden pain to their story. The two of them created for me such a deep attachment to their story, that it was hard to let go at the end. This story is the gateway to a series that is sure to touch each reader as this author's other series preceding I Do, I Don't have. I look forward to the next book in the series, I'm sure it'll be just as captivating as this first one was. This ARC book was a complimentary copy provided by the Publisher and Netgally, I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
  • Layne again shows her ability to combine sexy, flirty dialogue, real emotions, a touch of pop cultur

Bringing me the same feelings and laughter that Walk of Shame brought, Lauren Layne again shows her ability to combine sexy, flirty dialogue, real emotions, a touch of pop culture and characters that you want to add to your group of friends. Luke is from a small town in Montana, gaining notoriety because of his running away from not one or two, but three women at the altar. Dubbed the Runaway Groom, he’s just trying to live his life out of the spotlight. But, he’s refusing to answer calls and questions about his last-minute cold feet, and simply wants to be left alone. Jordan works for a studio, one that wants to produce a “bachelor-like” show, using Luke as the prize. Since Luke won’t answer her calls, it is up to her to head to Montana with her friend and co-worker Simon, and get Luke to follow them back to film. Not difficult, but pulling this self-defined city girl out into the wide open spaces is proving to be the key to opening her own personal Pandora’s box, where she’s stuffed her own issues and memories of her small-town upbringing, and moved beyond her roots. Jordan is very bold, brash and determined: like other Layne heroines she uses humor, pointed comments and has a running interior dialogue that never fails to amuse, even as it dances about her own real issues and concerns, showing readers the vulnerabilities. Simon, as a road-trip sidekick is adorable and clever: never missing an opportunity to lighten Jordan’s mood, redirect her focus or even simply be there to listen. And then we have Luke. Silent (like a stone) Luke who won’t be swayed by constant pestering, offers of cash and stardom, or even the repeated appearances of Jordan in his life, his town, HIS places. Sure, she’s cute and clever, and everyone (and he realizes Everyone) in town finds her intriguing, and they even are starting to fall for her attempts to ingratiate herself with the town in an effort to get him to cooperate. But really? He wants to ignore her and her effort, as easily as he ignored the offer but there’s something about Jordan that he can’t ignore. Oh there is drama, and issues that pop up but this is really the tale of Jordan and Luke overcoming their own issues, discovering what is important to each of them, and working together to overcome it all for a future together. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

I love Lauren Layne's voice and style and each series just keeps getting better and better. I loved stepping out of the big city and into small town with Layne in this one. The premises is fun and the characters she creates are just perfect. I really hope that Luke and Jordan appear in book two although Gage does seem interesting.
  • LOVED IT!!!

This first book in the I Do, I Don't series was so much fun to read!!! It kept a smile on my face from start to finish. Jordan works for a reality tv show and is looking for her first bachelor. She travels to a small town to convince Luke, who has left three brides at the alter, to sign up. Luke ignored all of Jordan's emails and calls for a reason: he has zero desire to be on her show and there's nothing she can offer or say that will change his mind. The longer Jordan spends in town and the more she gets to know Luke, the more she realizes that there's more to him that meets the eye and maybe the world of reality tv isn't as real as everyone thinks it is. I loved the start of this new series so much!! LL never fails to draw you in to the story and feel connected to every single character. I loved everything about Luke and Jordan. I was biting my nails waiting for their secrets to be revealed and swooning at every interaction between them. I can't wait to see what's next for the Jilted series!! *This is my voluntary review of an advanced reader copy*
  • 4.5 Stars - Exciting new series!

4.5 Stars When Jordan Carpenter arrives in small town Montana to recruit one hard to get ahold of contestant for her upcoming reality show, she isn't ready for just how right small town living feels. But, with larger things on her plate, namely Luke Elliott and his refusal to work with her, she decides it's time to dig in her heels and stay for awhile...   Luke Elliott may be labeled a runaway groom, but the local firefighter leads a quiet existence and wants nothing to do with a reality show that is guaranteed to dredge up his tangled past. He wants even less to do with the big city woman who is way too comfortable in his hometown and with all of his friends... except for this pesky little attraction he may have for her...  This book was a fantastic start to a brand new series! Jordan is doing her job to recruit a star for the new reality show she is involved in... but I love that she isn't just portrayed as some cutthroat business woman. She really connects to the people of Lucky Hollow, and isn't about walking all over them for the sake of her career. Luke has definitely left three women at the alter, but there is so much more to him than meets the eye, I just totally fell for him when we finally got more of the depth of his story. I loved the plot, and the amazing cast of supporting characters. This storyline moved quickly, it was fun, different and showed us that Jordan and Luke were so much more than meets the eye. I seriously don't think this author has EVER disappointed me with one of her books, and Ready To Run is a must read, and I can not wait to see what the rest of the I Do, I Don't series has in store for us!  I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
  • Run to this book!

Meet Lauren Layne's newest Hot Hero, Luke Elliott. He's a firefighter, an animal lover, and he's already had three fiancées, so you know he's open to marriage. Some of you may be bothered by him having left those women at the altar, but, when you think about it, this makes him all the more appealing, non? That whole "chase" thing? Running certainly is an ongoing motif in this deliciously hot romance novel. You have Luke running away from his three would-be marriages, and you have Jordan, a New York City-based television producer running after him, trying to get him to commit to a Bachelor-esque reality show. You also have Luke and Jordan both running toward and running away from each other. Perhaps the most significant running, though, is Jordan's running away from her past. Luke does this, too, to a certain extent, but Jordan's is more poignant, more emotionally devastating. Lauren Layne does so many things well in this book. She hooks you immediately, making you wonder if Jordan can convince the runaway groom to appear in the TV show. She makes you want to know more about Luke's flights, and she makes you want to know why Jordan feels at home in this small Montana town. And she writes some pretty fabulous sexy times. I've got to say that I'm mighty intrigued by the men in Lucky Hollow, Montana.
