By Hillary Clinton
A TIME MAGAZINE BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR AND NEW YORK TIMES NOTABLE BOOK
“In the past, for reasons I try to explain, I’ve often felt I had to be careful in public, like I was up on a wire without a net. Now I’m letting my guard down.” —Hillary Rodham Clinton, from the introduction of What Happened
For the first time, Hillary Rodham Clinton reveals what she was thinking and feeling during one of the most controversial and unpredictable presidential elections in history. Now free from the constraints of running, Hillary takes you inside the intense personal experience of becoming the first woman nominated for president by a major party in an election marked by rage, sexism, exhilarating highs and infuriating lows, stranger-than-fiction twists, Russian interference, and an opponent who broke all the rules. This is her most personal memoir yet.
In these pages, she describes what it was like to run against Donald Trump, the mistakes she made, how she has coped with a shocking and devastating loss, and how she found the strength to pick herself back up afterward. With humor and candor, she tells readers what it took to get back on her feet—the rituals, relationships, and reading that got her through, and what the experience has taught her about life. She speaks about the challenges of being a strong woman in the public eye, the criticism over her voice, age, and appearance, and the double standard confronting women in politics.
She lays out how the 2016 election was marked by an unprecedented assault on our democracy by a foreign adversary. By analyzing the evidence and connecting the dots, Hillary shows just how dangerous the forces are that shaped the outcome, and why Americans need to understand them to protect our values and our democracy in the future.
The election of 2016 was unprecedented and historic. What Happened is the story of that campaign and its aftermath—both a deeply intimate account and a cautionary tale for the nation.
Voted twice for Hillary but...3By ChicagodogtrainerThis book reads like a hasty yet thorough defense rather than a deep level introspection about what actually happened. It should be updated with a chapter about Russia and while I do believe that Hillary ran hard, by the half way point in this book I’m disappointed to find a lawyerly approach rather than any form of mea culpa whatsoever. I’ll update this review (and add stars)if the second half magically reveals the “WTF I did wrong” element. Not that there’s none of that but it’s so wrapped up in “not my fault.”
Stronger together5By larsons45I truly enjoying reading this book filled with hope and lots of perspectives.
Just accept you lost1By Township😁You don’t need to write a book about it just accept you lost.😂
You lost. That’s what happened.1By Doggy1233456874Crooked old woman lost because she’s a nut. No need to write a book about it.
This book is HORRIBLE1By ycast621Hillary Clinton could have saved her words and time by summing up “What Happened” in one sentence “ I am a loser that doesn’t deserve to step another foot in the White House” She is corrupted and mentally ill
What happened1By DrockdannyShe lied to the world about all she had done& who she had had Killed she belongs in jail for the rest of her life!!!
Trump Happened5By GTBTP, Inc.Everyone should buy this book to truly understand! What a wonderful book for anyone who loves fiction! This book, written by someone who refuses to accept that tens of millions of previously loyal democrat voters resoundingly rejected her. In true Clinton style, Hillary condescends and refuses to take responsibility for losing to an underfunded rookie politician despite a complicit media and a billion dollar campaign apparatus. Hillary has spent the last 30 years preparing for her coronation, seemingly coasting to victory on a wave of progressive identity politics. She pandered to liberal elites, African Americans, and accused everyone else of being deplorable. She went to the far left fringes with Bernie, abandoning the policies, and with them, the voters that made her husband a two term president. Simply put, this is a must read for all you sexist, racist, homophobic, Islamophobic, xenophobic Trumpkins!
What happened5By Melvin SmithermanI thought this to be a thorough explanation which satisfied meAbout my candidateHillary Rodham Clinton
Hillaryious Hitpiece1By Orlando789So typical of leftists, that they'll tak ZERO resposibility for their failures ... Blame-shifting, instead of owning up her own delusions!
Boring2By fgianakosFirst of all, I voted for her. However, I’m disappointed with the book. It became tedious and redundant. As an example, it seemed she spoke about Comey’s letter 100 times when once would have sufficed. Still like her policy ideas and ideology though but rough reading.
