4.5☆ I freaking loved this book! Riley and Maverick have insane levels of chemistry and have a very fun and flirty relationship. They are super sexy together and I loved the progression of their relationship. The search and rescue parts of the story were really interesting. I really enjoyed reading about their job a lot too. It added some really good drama and a nice high pace excitement. I love the whole overall story and just devoured it. I loved Riley and Mavericks relationship, they a fun and flirty and super hot together. I am super excited for Hot Shot, there has been so much build up in Wild Card and Maverick I am anxious to get my hands on it!

Oh, I am so in love with Maverick!! Honestly, I loved him more than Shane that was big!! Maverick and Riley's story is compelling, sensual, adrenaline pumping and soulful. Riley is a very independent and head strong woman and she doesn't care who knows that. She doesn't care what people think about her and she is one of the hardest working women; she has to be in her line of work. I loved Riley's character. She was honest, real, kind, smart, tough and when you got underneath her armor that she has around her, she is vulnerable. I loved that Riley went into things with confidence and when she met Maverick, she never gave up on him, but she also never coddled him. Maverick is a tough S.O.B., but he is also living his life by not making connections with anyone and that is lonely. When he meets Riley, he tries to fight the attraction and connection, and I mean, he really fights it, but in the end, their pull towards each other was just too strong. When he is with Riley, he actually feels content and happiness, but he is also scared. I loved that Maverick was an alpha and instead of trying to bring Riley's independence and toughness down, he embraced it and loved it about her. Maverick is protective and strong and sexy and oh so dirty (in the best ways possible). Maverick is forced to make tough decisions, especially being the team leader, but his biggest fear, is losing Riley. I loved the passion that these two characters bring out in each other. It was wild, intense and beautiful. Maverick & Riley are two characters who are just absolutely PERFECT for each other and their story is definitely one of my favorites by Karina Halle!! I cannot wait for the next book in this series, it's going to be SO good!!

This is my first book in this series. Not having read the first book did not effect my enjoyment of this one. The characters are well developed and enjoyable. I related easily to them and cheered them on. The angst in the book is relatively minor even though it is very serious at times. There is more light hearted banter, flirting and hot sex scenes then angst. Riley is a great character and I love her resilience. She has had a tough go of it but perseveres. Mav is dedicated to his job. He struggles with some old issues that he works to overcome throughout the story. Did I mention he is a hottie? Mav and Riley are a great couple. There banter and sexual tension burn this story up. I love the setting in the snowy mountain resort town. Their jobs made the story interesting and kept it flowing. I'm a huge fan of Karina Halle! Her Play/Debt....series is one of my faves! I loved Wild Card so reading Maverick was a must! Maverick and Riley, ahhhh their chemistry is off the charts! Like seriously HOT folks! Loved both of the lead characters, i related to Riley a lot because what you see is what you get! I love that and am the same way! Mav tried not to want her as much as he did lol Awesome read, love all your words Karina Halle l! Thanks for another bbf, yet again ;) Can't wait for Del & Fox's book next!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Maverick crackled with chemistry and adrenaline. She built two strong characters that work well not only with each other, but the other characters as well. Oh and those scenes, HOT. I finished this book in one day.

This book was exactly what I needed right now. I feel like it had it all. It was fun and sexy, made me laugh, had my adrenaline going, and was just so enjoyable. I loved Riley. She is definitely going on my favorite heroines list. She was so blunt and real. I loved that she wasn’t afraid to go after what she wanted. You don’t see a lot of heroines like this, just straightforward and confident from the start. She was a breath of fresh air. And the chemistry! Holy hell! The chemistry was off the charts. I felt that connection between her and Maverick right off the bat. And that’s rare for me. But it was just oozing off the pages. Smoking. Hot. 5 stars!
