Description

The author of sixteen consecutive New York Times bestsellers unleashes a hero for the next millennium in an electrifying new series of unrelenting action and edge-of-your-seat thrills. Clive Cussler introduces us to Kurt Austin, the courageous leader of the NUMA exploration team.

When Kurt Austin, the leader of a courageous National Underwater & Marine Agency exploration team, rescues beautiful marine archaeologist Nina Kirov off the coast of Morocco, he becomes the next target of Texas industrialist Don Halcon. A madman bent on carving a new nation out of the southwestern United States and Mexico, Halcon’s scheme hinges on Nina’s recent discovery involving Christopher Columbus, and a priceless pre-Columbian antiquity buried in the battered remains of the sunken Italian luxury liner Andrea Doria. Only Kurt Austin and his crack NUMA team stand between Halcon and the Andrea Doria’s silent steel hull—and if their deadly mission fails, Halcon will ride to power on a wave of death and destruction.

A great read plenty of twists to keep turning to the next page.
  • Great Action Adventure

A solid four star experience. The issue I have with the story is the somewhat anti-climatic ending and the final motive for the villain was not realistic enough. All in all a solid experience.
  • Another good Cussler Story

It shames other authors I like by he’s creativity as well as the unflawed publishing.

I can't say that this was best or most suspenseful book that I have recently read but it was a good summer read. I liked the characters but there was not a lot of depth to them. I would not advise friends to read it or not read it.

This was an excellent book with a very interesting plot. There were many scenes involving exciting action and lots of theories suggesting how the technology of the Myan civilization was created. It's full of surprises and was exciting to read.
  • Fun and furious action

Classic Cussler with twists, action, drama and lots of bravado! Fast and fun read.

Typical Cussler... Action packed fast read with enough historical details and twists to keep it interesting. Shakespeare it ain't, but entertaining it most certainly is.
  • Clive Cussler does it again

I have read every single Clive Cussler adventure and when I didn't think it could be any better than the last it turns out to be another masterpiece. I love reading all the adventures over and over again. I want to thank all the people who made these books possible I can't wait for the next adventure.

A disappointing read for this huge Cussler fan. Kemprecos' style weighed down the flow with less than interesting detail. It was a "close but no cigar" attempt at mimicking Cussler's style. I can only hope the NUMA files series gets better...but for now it is a distant third to the Dirk Pitt and Oregon sagas.
