Description

An Apple Books Classic edition.

Lose yourself in the pages of J.M. Barrie’s beloved story about Neverland, the Lost Boys, and Tinkerbell. The book begins with older sister Wendy reading to her siblings, while Peter Pan and Tink peer in through the window. But when these magical visitors are spotted, the window slams shut, trapping Peter’s shadow inside!

So begins the enchanted adventure of Wendy, John, and Michael Darling, who fly through the night to Neverland-a place of fairies, magical birds, and eternal youth. But danger lurks here, too, in the form of the vengeful Captain Hook and his band of pirates. This timeless tale invites us to escape to the idyllic and fantastical realm of childhood…no matter our age.

  • Shockingly Morbid

I feel like I looked into the mind of a murderous sociopath as I read this book. Spolier alert - only Wendy isn’t a murderous demon child. The others somehow instinctively know how to kill grown ups and do it without remorse, like true predators. It’s the kind of story a misogynistic drunk uncle would tell kids left in his care for the night before passing out on pool lounger with a cigarette still in hand. To say I wouldn’t recommend this to kids is an understatement. Do you want to explain what fairy orgies are to them? Or why people would be called savages and redskins? It’s an adult book, not meant for children’s bedtime stories.

So it was confusing at first, but then I started to understand it and be able to comprehend it so when I finished I realized that it was a very good book in that it makes me want to read it again. Thank you!

It’s nice to finally read the book to see where the movie came from. Some parts were definitely interesting or a little oddly curious, but for the most part I thought this was a splendid read. Wendy and Peter are two characters that are easy to want to learn more about. I like the deeper meaning of the book, about not wanting to grow up and cherishing your childhood as long as you can.

A very interesting story that all readers will enjoy. No wonder there has been 3 movie adaptations and even more musicals.

I didn't know I needed this, but I really did. There is no better children's story out there, nor one written so well. What an aching pleasure.

Hello, I actually played Nana in a Peter Pan play before. I love Nana, she is so cute! Peter Pan is a good story, I mean, the script is the exact same thing, except there were no mermaids in script. 💚 Update: The book was actually not like the script. Somewhat boring. The play I did is better actually. I’m 11 1/2. I know better. If you want something good, read Dog Man or Captain Underpants ( am I the only girl who likes captain underpants )

This used to be my favourite book, but reading it again, it’s very racist. I understand the time period it’s in, but would not read to children. It is beautifully written, though. Quite sad, especially the ending.

  • NOT DISNEY!!

The original Peter Pan has always been somewhat of a tragedy. Most of the stories Disney bases their movies off of are. I have watched so many Peter Pan movies that this seems like something that SHOULD be put into a movie. But the problem is the movie would be rated R, so no kids could watch it. I like Peter Pan this way. Heroic, but also sad. This book can make any kid grateful for their parents and for growing up. It shows that people change. That’s a lesson valuable enough to read thjs book.
