Description
#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • After providing what is arguably the worst single performance in the history of the NFL, third-string quarterback Rick Dockery becomes a national laughingstock. Cut by the Cleveland Browns, and shunned by every other team, Rick insists that his agent find a team that does need him.
Against enormous odds, Rick lands a job—as the starting quarterback for the Mighty Panthers ... of Parma, Italy.
The Parma Panthers desperately want a former NFL player—any former NFL player—at their helm. And now they’ve got Rick, who knows nothing about Parma (not even where it is) and doesn’t speak a word of Italian. To say that Italy—the land of fine wines, extremely small cars, and football americano—holds a few surprises for Rick Dockery would be something of an understatement.
Don’t miss John Grisham’s new book, THE EXCHANGE: AFTER THE FIRM!

5By kwd63122John throws a curve, but a good one. No murders and the only blood was from football games.Txt

4By Donnie55rThis is John Grisham's first sports book and the last one that I read. Though I wasn't sure about the main character in the beginning, it wasn't long before I started to like him. The more he discovered his true self, the more I liked him. This was a great read and I thoroughly enjoyed the history of Italy as well as the cuisine. As always, Grisam did a great job with his research.Playing for Pizza

5By LT SundanceThis is one of my favorite books that I have read and I have read a lot... Classics. Non - fiction. Lord of the Rings and Grapes of Wrath and Gone With the Wind are my MOST favorites, but Playing For Pizza ranks right up there.... I love it because I learned a lot about Italy where I was fortunate enough to be able to travel to and perform for the troops with the USO, right after 9/11. I was a comedian and a college football player. My father was a high school coach. I am a combat veteran having been a Lieutenant and an Infantry Platoon Leader with the First of the Eleventh Infantry in Northern I Corps in tithe Republic of Vietnam, which of course no longer exists. I suppose that's one of the reasons this book appeals to me --- being in a leadership position and facing physical danger. I've read some of his other books but this one, though somewhat obscure, is my favorite. Blake ClarkOne for the ages
5By DFoderaroAbsolutely love this book. Paints a beautiful picture of everyday life in Italy. One of my favorite books of all time and would recommend this to all people of any ageFun
4By Swept me inPlaying for pizza is a wonderful trip into life in italy. Through the eyes of an American washed-up quarterback, we see how Italians live, eat and enjoy life. We Americans should approach life the same way as our Italian neighbors. Family, friends, food and unbridled love of life. A treat to read.
