Description

Air Command pilot Nova Whiteside is assigned to a remote outpost to guard the construction of a new tethered orbiter, Skyranch Twelve, against rebel sabotage. The difference between the well-ordered Union air fields and this dusty garrison is made painfully clear when she runs afoul a brutal commander of ground troops.

When she is trapped behind enemy lines in a bloody uprising she meets Djari, a civilian whose trust in the governing Union is shattered by what he has witnessed.

Aboard the elegant new space station not all runs according to protocol and she soon suspects that more than farming is being done up there. When she uncovers the treacherous and illicit schemes taking place, it seems that local riots are the least of their troubles.

Enough technical details to be interesting with a good story

When a free download is available, I often approach it with hesitant skepticism. This turned out to be an enjoyable surprise. It is well written and edited. The plot is engaging and the main character is both flawed and likable.
  • A winner.

Good story, crisp writing and an unusual technology setting. The lead character you gotta like and the supporting cast blend in well. This is my first read from this author and I will definitely be reading more.

A likable, humane protagonist stars in this fast moving story about the perils of empire building and occupation. Gritty scenes of combat season the plot and add verisimilitude to the characters. I look forward to the next episodes in this series.

The series is a mix of the space opera & romance styles. The heroine, Nova, has a different lover in each book. Characters are shallow, action is nearly constant, situations unimaginative. It is written well enough for a quick, light entertainment.

This was really good. The characters are thought out, there seems to be a little lack of depth to them, but considering the Sherry’s only five books in I’m wondering if maybe The author might not do have some stores earlier of the characters. This was better than anything else I’ve read recently. You don’t know was Scott Sigler as a writer

Good characters in a compete world move through a complex plot. Real emotions as well as taut plotting make this book worth reading. Complete as is but makes you want to get the next installment.

Better late than never! I started this book months ago and never finished it. I had to start over from the beginning. And it was totally worth it! I was actually looking forward to several more chapters but the old adage is leave them wanting more and I want more! If you are wondering if you will like this story, I can't answer that for you. I heartily recommend you give this author a try and read what you may be missing.
