By John Siracusa
- Release Date: 2014-10-16

Description
Yosemite is a milestone in the development of OS X, a product that John Siracusa has been reviewing for Ars Technica since 1999. Learn what’s new in Yosemite: iOS integration, Extensions, application changes, iCloud Drive, and, of course, the bold new look. This is not a how-to guide; it’s a review of the operating system that explores the technologies and philosophies behind the features, all within the historical context of the Mac platform.
Reviews
Thoroughly enjoyable
5By areitzI have been reading John's Mac OS X reviews since the beginning, and they never fail to disappoint. John's Yosemite review lives up to the high standards of his last work. If you're curious about Apple's latest operating system, this book is $5 well spent.Thank you, John
5By longstingerSiracusa sets the gold standard for operating system reviews. It's a shame that other operating systems seem not to ignite the kind of passion that OSX does in John. When he retires from doing this labor of love, the void may never be filled. Enjoy his labor while you can.The definitive review
5By fullercAlways on point, John nails it again.Amazingly well done
5By theevanshowJohn Siracusa has given so much good analysis of OS X over the years, and this is no exception. The Quinessential OS X Review!
5By DMan2348This book is the quinessentail OS X Review from one of the smartest and knowledgeable guys on the planet… and of course, I’m talking about Mr. Siracusa. If you want to REALLY get to know the inner-workings and understand the most notebable new features of OS X Yosemite, then this book is for you. For my money there is no one more capable and more knowledgable when it comes to understanding not only the newest features of OS X but the history behind it and what it means. In short, GET THIS BOOK!!! Its a no-brainer buy. Seriously… A no brainer.Always a great read at new OS launch time!

5By NJKnightAn exceptional work covering everything going on in Yosemite with a great historical perspective. You can almost feel the yearning for HFS+’s replacement when John reveals Core Storage is now on by default for even boot volumes. His coverage of Swift and, SIL, and LLVM IR is unparalleled.Amazing
