From USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Spredemann comes a powerful love story you won't soon forget!
An unlikely friendship could change everything.
Joseph Bender was shunned by his Amish community when he was a young man. Living on the streets since then has him convinced he's finished with God and the Amish—until he meets kindhearted Anna Smucker.
Anna only followed her conscience when helping the homeless man, despite the cautious warning from her Amish beau. What she didn't expect was the way the vagabond invaded her thoughts afterward.
While their friendship grows, so does the resistance from others in her life. And Joe must rediscover his faith in God and overcome his painful past to embrace a life of love.

Loved this!!!
5By PierresFamilySent from J.E.B. Spredemann's A Secret Encounter, Book Two of Amish Secrets, is wonderful!! This is a story of family and friends, romance, new beginnings, redemption and compassion. I love how she treats the issue of homelessness through primary female character (protagonist) Anna and Linda, who is her boss at Threads of Beauty. The poignant issue is treated informatively - with concern and love - but never in a preachy way. I also appreciated how Spredemann touched on the unfair and painful, judgmental treatment of soldiers who returned home from the war. This hateful treatment, both during and after the war, was devastating to the men who had obeyed the law and tried to help the people of South Vietnam in their fight against oppression by the North Vietnamese - some sacrificing their limbs and even their lives. Throughout the book, a personal faith in Jesus is woven through the lives of most of the characters. She portrays the Amish as people like us - with some good qualities while also having some areas that could use improvement.Spredemann is a gifted author. I look forward to reading the rest of this series and will recommend it to any friends who ask me for reading recommendations!Unusual
