Good read, so many twists and turns. You're hoping someone will save Kate, but she's strong enough to save herself.

Wow. I'm really conflicted by this one!!! It's a totally different Ali for me. I love that Kate is super tough, not the damsel in distress... I like the intrigue. It's not just a plain, straight-forward romance. I'm so hopeful for how it plays out... 🙈

The story seemed simple when I started to read the book, but then it really gets twisted. Definitely different from anything I've read, but I enjoyed it a lot. What's gonna happen in this triangle between Kate, Jon, Marcus, & Victor. For one, I don't like Marcus so I hope nothing pleasant happens to him. I'm very much intrigues as to what's gonna happen in book 2.

I love New Orleans and to see this story take place there s great. Drugs, murder and love is a dangerous mix. Kate is the tough girl who knows the street. She gets mixed up with Jon, a cop who is investigating his brother's murder. Can Kate and Jon's love survive the street? Can't wait for book 2

This book was different but not the normal steamy sex books from this author...I do wonder what choices were made

It was great to see Kate and Jon form a relationship after they are thrown together due to the death of Jon's brother. Ali Parker did good. Ready to see how they progress together.

This may be my favorite series from Ali Parker! I love the characters and can't wait to see what Kate chooses!

Being from right outside of New Orleans, there's nothing I hate more than an author trying to write about the city and gets it completely wrong and off-base. Ali Parker really did a great job with this one - no cliche' NOLA vibes here! Although I didn't relate to this story as much as her others as I've never done drugs or had an addition, I can appreciate the story and really enjoy it. Great read!

Where to begin?? I loved this book even though it was supposed to be a stand alone but wasn't. I am not quite sure who I am rooting for our girl to be with. I am leaning towards Marcus although I think Jon is ok too. I just love that reformed bad guy type!!!! I was a bit disappointed at how the issue with Victor played out but I suppose that is how we set it up for the next book. Overall a good read just not a standalone as advertised

An equal amount of sex and adventure make this book an exciting read. The main characters all have troubled pasts but find themselves intertwined together in danger and lust. This book doesn't disappoint in keeping the reader anxious to know what happens next.

This novel had all the mystery you would want! The characters were very realistic and always had a trick up their sleeve!

I wasn't sure at first but wow! Ali Parker never disappoints, she is amazing! Jon is a cop working on a case of his dead brother, Kate is smoking hot bar owner, and Marcus is Kate right hand man. Loving this puzzling love triangle.

This book is amazing and will keep you on your toes until the very end! Kate is a strong beautiful woman, who believes that she can only depend on herself. Marcus is her best friend and partner. Then something happens at her club, and she meets the hot police officer Jon. The snarky comments and chemistry between them could set your book on fire! That's not the only danger...

What a great read!! This is about Jon and Kate. The story and characters are great. Jon is a detective and Kate owns a club. Kate with with Jon's brother when he dies and Jon thinks she killed him. Marcus is Kate's partner and lover. Seth is Jon's partner, however, something is off and ends up getting what he desires to say the least. Victor is the new drug lord in town. This book is a page turner.

I've never read any books by this author and after reading this one, I doubt I'd read any others. The characters were completely terrible, even the ones we're supposed to root for are not worth the effort. I only finished the book because it was supposedly a stand-alone - completely untrue. The epilogue does not solve anything; it sets the story up to be continued. Don't bother. The only upside is that it was free so only my time was wasted!

Originally I accidentally downloaded the book. So I gave the book a try. Overall I was pleased with the book. I loved how there was a mystery to all the characters in the book. It was like a puzzle! I was so glad that this book wasn't a cliché sappy romance novel like boy boy falls for the emotionally damaged girl and tries to save her from herself. All the characters in this book has flaws and it was refreshing to see that the characters portrayed realistic qualities. But back onto the romance, like I was saying this isn't the typical romance novel. The love/care was shown through sex, which was different from what I would usually read but gives the reader more to think about. I absolutely loved that the female lead was not a damsel in distress. She was a strong female who can hold her own although she did struggle with what all of us want-intimacy. The only negative was the slight cliffhanger at the end, but they made up for it with a preview of the 2nd book. (=
