Description

“Some guys call, some date, and some guys, they might even get married. But, sweetheart, I ain’t any of those guys...” ~ Zeke Declan

Every girl in Galveston County knows about Zeke Declan’s rules and has agreed to them or is considering them.
Rule #1 Don’t call him. He’ll call you.
Rule #2 He doesn’t date.
Rule #3 No sleepovers.
Rule #4 Absolutely, no virgins.

When a couple friends talk me into going back to their hometown in the Bayou for the summer and challenge me to break “the best damn lay in Galveston County” along with every single one of his ridiculous rules, I’m confident that I can get the job done. I’m no stranger to men. I have five older brothers. I’m a teacher and I’m used to being around rebellious teenagers. However, Zeke Declan is definitely not someone that I could have prepared for. He’s not a testosterone-fueled, immature boy. He’s a confident, arousing, playful, and mind-melting man. But, behind that sexy charming smile, I know he’s hiding a secret. And, in order to break him, I’m going to need to find out what it is...

Zeke has stolen my heart. As the youngest Declan brother, he seems the most level-headed but he is guarding traumatic secret, even from his brothers, which has dictated how he guides his life and is the foundation for all his walls guarding his heart. When he crosses paths with Lurlene one afternoon, he finds his foundation shaken. Lurlene makes it her quest to break the infamous Zeke Declan of all his rules. What she doesn’t expect is to find an incredibly smart, funny and genuine man who she is at risk of losing her heart to. Will she be able to break through to Zeke so that they can both find their HEA? What a fun and exciting journey for both of them with several twists I didn’t expect for either of them.

HELP!!! I need more stars. Five just isn't enough. Okay frustration out of the way. Now the legal mumbo jumbo: I was give an ARC of Zeke in exchange for a honest review. I honestly cannot say enough good things about Zeke in the space provided. Zeke is book three of the Declan Brothers. The boys have been through a lot--the murder of their parents, the death of their beloved grandmother, the loss of the store to fire. But nothing has prepared them for the girls coming to break them. Zeke is the only one left standing. Jax and Slate have met their match and have been defeated. It is Zeke's duty to remain single. It is Zeke's believe that he doesn't deserve anything else. Remaining single shouldn't be difficult with his rules. Rules he shares with each woman before they get together. They don't care. They just want to "Ride the Lightening". Of course rules are made to be broken and Lurlene is just the gal to do it. It should be easy enough. Zeke needs to give her his phone number. They need to go out on a date. They need to have a sleepover. And Lurlene is the only one of the three girls able to break the last rule--absolutely no virgins!!! I expected laughs. I wasn't disappointed. I expected romance. Zeke's idea of romance is a little unique. I expected a few failures along the way. I didn't realize how determined Lurlene could be. She is a very intelligent, strong character. She is just what Zeke needs. I loved being a long for the ride and Lurlene manipulated Zeke. It was even better watching jealousy grow. But when Zeke told Lurlene what made him the way he is, what made his nightmares so terrible I cried. So thank you Kelly Gendron for writing such a realistic story. Thank you for writing such a "grabber" that I stayed up to finish it. I enjoyed all three books, but there is just something about Zeke and Lurlene that will stay with me.

I received this for an honest review. I have read all three books of Breaking the Declan Brothers and each book has been amazing. Kelly Gendron is one amazing author. I have books that I refer to as shelf worthy, which means not only do I have them on my e-reader but they are so good I have a copy on my shelf at home. This is one series I call shelf worthy. This is the third book in the series but do not worry it can be read as a standalone. Zeke Declan had 4 rules: (1) Don’t Call him. He’ll call you. (2) He doesn’t date. (3) No Sleepovers. And (4) Absolutely no virgins. You have to look at Zeke to wonder what caused him to have these rules. With each of the Declan brothers you discover there is some kind of scar there that they need to right woman to heal. Things from Zeke’s past broke my heart. Sorry you will have to read the book to find out. Might want a box of tissue though. I cannot imagine leaving with that much pain, hurt, and guilt for so long. He defiantly needs to have someone to talk to. When you keep something like this in for so long it eats at you until there is nothing left. I love Rayna and Emmie have talked Lurlene in to going after Zeke. Lurlene is perfect for she can not only get him to break rules 1-3 but is also the perfect one to break rule 4. Yip that is right Lurlene is a virgin. I so enjoyed reading about how she worked on breaking down all of Zeke’s walls. Does not mean that Zeke didn’t fight her along the way. There was so much hot sexual tension between the two of them. I loved Rusty in this series. She did not mind telling it like it was. I think she is one of the reasons that Lurlene kept pursuing after Zeke. Rusty thought a lot of the Declan brothers and wanted what was best for them. In a way I think they were like family to her. Lurlene knew what men like Zeke were like. She did have brothers that were just like him. In a way I think that helped give her some perspective on how to deal with him. I not certain Zeke knew what hit him. Once again I would like to state how much I enjoyed this book, though throughout the book I had to wonder what it would be like to “Ride the Lighting.”..LOL
