Anarchy Rising is the second book in a series described as "a cross between Justified and The Walking Dead." After the worst pandemic in mankind’s history, anarchy threatens to break apart the United States. The government is years away from providing even the most basic necessities. Militias, gangs of convicts, and rogue soldiers face off in a violent free-for-all as they vie for power. Few safe havens remain. Big cities have been overrun with deformed survivors of the Superpox-99 pandemic. Smaller towns are being overtaken by authoritarians and lawless thugs. And congested interstates have become thoroughfares for desperate travelers and bandits seeking to capture women and supplies.

President Glass must face daunting challenges, completely unaware that some of her closest advisers are using unthinkable methods to have her removed. Their clandestine hunt for her eleven-year-old daughter, Samantha, intensifies, and the only person standing in their way is a ruthless convict who will stop at nothing keep the young girl safe.

Duty drives Deputy Marshal Mason Raines to leave the small town of Boone to discover the fate of his fellow lawmen. With his faithful wolfhound, Bowie, at his side, he crosses paths with desperate refugees, a bloodthirsty hangman, and savage cannibals. Only as he discovers the horrific truth, does he realize that he may be the last of his kind.

The more I read the more I love this series. This contains action and romance, peace amongst war, and is very thought provoking. I will even go so far as saying that I would hold this series in the same group as Clive Cussler and Dale Brown.

Totally enjoyed this book, and can’t wait to read the sequel.
  • Book one art in first chapter. Not realistic Asian men do not grow full breads...ever.

See above for one star. I loved the book, the split timelines. And strong male characters who don’t second guess themselves . Sorry excuse for a President though.
  • Fast and furious reading!

Problem with this book is that you cannot put it down. The second book in the series was better than the first. Non stop action with a great story line. Oh, did I mention that I love the characters in the story. This book won’t disappoint!

For some reason mason reads like a much older character than he's meant to be. I enjoy the series so far, not sure if I'll buy all of them (seem a bit overpriced)!

Moving, but little odd phrases pop up from time to time. Somewhat dated in the genre but was what I was looking for so have enjoyed it with a few reservations. Will read the next in line
