Description
The Crusades
Much has been written and much has been omitted when it comes to the Crusades; especially in modern parlance. Many talking heads in recent times have conjured up the specter of the Crusades as if it should be a source of great shame and disgust for Western Civilization. And with even President Obama drawing odd parallels in light of the beheadings of ISIS; many are wondering once again what all of this "Crusades talk" is all about.
Inside you will read about...
✓ Backing Up Byzantium
✓ All Out Holy War
✓ The Kingdom of Heaven
✓ The King's Crusade
✓ The Self-Defeating Crusade
✓ The Final Crusades
✓ The Post-Crusade World
The Crusades took place over a thousand years ago, and yet we currently live in a modern day world of unspeakable terror. Islamic extremists are disrupting the entire planet, murdering, raping and enslaving everyone they encounter. Committing brutalities on a scale that rivals some of the worst abuses of the dark ages and yet people still point to the Crusades as if it is supposed to mean something. Ok, that's fine. If detractors wish to point their finger and call out history, let's find the truth, and let's find out what really happened.
Reviews
Informational
5By CarlPetermanI for one am extremely intrested in the crusades and this had brought a whole new understanding. Thank you so much I had so much fun reading this book!Believe the reviews
2By Scholastic SharkI wish the information presented was sourced. Some of the information presented is incomplete (lacking context) and lacks reasonable objectivity. The author could have easily delved deeper into the motivations of the European crusaders, which could bolster his argument. There are some obvious grammatical errors that make the scholarship value more and more juvenile. This book has a bias and it’s author is upfront about his perspective. From the outset, there is a very real tone of aggressive apologetics. With context and objectivity, the author could make some decent arguments, or at the very least present a reasonable perspective on the subject.History plus bias
3By TxAggie911I appreciate the brevity but there was an obvious opinion in the book I wasn’t looking for. The price was right though.Short Stories
5By LisapookieI enjoyed this story I’ve read it before. It’s interesting but very biased
3By presentywriterThis book is well-written to a certain extent. However, it is also noticeably biased, which limits its ability to present a full picture view of the Crusade wars. The book fails to explore all angles and wrongdoings associated with the Crusades. I also find it lacks sufficient illumination on the real causes that led to these historical conflicts and the reasons behind the unfolding massacres. Was it just because Jerusalem was a holy place or was more to it than that? Anyway, it has some very interesting historically accurate facts so I would suggest to read this book but also other books on crusade wars to get a full picture on what really happened, the light and shadows, and also Why it really happened.Opinionated bot factual or historical
1By yxsin0Super biased, author seems to have a lot of hate for Muslims. I wanted to read something interesting about the crusades and learn a little. This ain’t itInteresting & Precise
5By Myke784I love how Mr Freeman can explain the all this history in so few words.Terrible
1By McFarlanderNo scholarship here.Gold number
5By guards lieI enjoy this book and it’s great to read thx for sharing this with meWho said he was a moron
5By jacob PasquaYour the moron for getting this book you should research for the right bookThis guy, Christians good Muslims bad
1By Fabbas23The Middle East has been invaded for the last 1400 years and calls Muslims violent. Yeah Muslims are violent for defending their homeland. Did y’all know that when Christians took Jerusalem in the first crusade they murdered a whole town of defenseless people. But yeah Muslims are the bad ones. The start of the book he talks about how Muslims spread their faith with violence like Christianity hasn’t done that. Christianity has done that to literally every part of the world. If I could give it negative 2 stars I would
1By A.J LloydSimply awful, no historical or factual basis. Surprised Apple even gave this a virtual shelf to live onNot good
1By corky6672When a writer choses to inject his own awful opinions over history and what actually happened I would rather not read on. History should be matter of fact never opinion. Not impressed
1By sam 164I’m not sure how someone can refer to these Christians fundamentalists that butchered their Jewish neighbors in a better light than the ottomans who happily welcomed the Jews after they were expelled from Spain, the writer conveniently excluded from his book the massacres that the crusaders committed in German and French Jewish communities, then he claims that these crusaders helped democracy. This guy is just a Mormon racist.
1By charlytwochains$$$$Come on pal grow up and write something actually informative. You’re just full of weird hate.Islamophobia meets history....history loses!
1By Agent M22Totally ignorant of the pogroms that were waged across Europe on the way to the “Holy Land.” Jews, Gypsy’s, and all non-Christians were slaughtered in great numbers. Shame on this “author” for promoting an intolerant and racist “history”.Recommend this book
5By Pixel Gunner No.1A very nice read. Not too long, not too short, and it tells you what you need and want to know. This book’s view in crusade is biased.
1By sdhfksNo clear evidence is provided supporting the topic or argument. I would not recommend reading this book.Ill informed horrible author
1By MichaelStein123This author knows nothing about the crusades, he is obviously a hate-filled individual with an agenda against Islam. Do not read or entertain.
