  • Too many miraculous escapes

While this is an easy series to read I had to stop after the second book because of the mounting number of unbelievable escapes that Sheridan has. While most seem plausible there are just so many of them that it just made me want to stop caring about the characters, and this with eight more books to go.
  • Wait! The author changed the style.

The first book was good. I saw a few holes in the logic or plot, but overall good characters and story. This, however, seemed like the author kept throwing some poorly conceived impossible twist at the main characters. One second they're safe(ish) and in two sentences suddenly a sneaky robot appears. Along with a drone that wasn't there and a squad of troops materialize. It felt like the author was writing one night but before starting again got angry about not getting laid. Picked up the pen and took it out on the plot. Once or twice I understand, but every chance? I can't continue reading this series. Sorry, I hate leaving a bad review.
