Description

Coffeehouse manager and reluctant sleuth Juliet Langley returns in a gripping novel from the bestselling author of Death Before Decaf and Mug Shot. Just as things are perking up in Nashville, a serial killer sends tensions foaming over.

Juliet’s personal and professional lives have recently received an extra jolt of energy. Her romance with the hunky detective Ryder Hamilton continues to simmer, and business at Java Jive has never been better. But her good mood quickly turns as stale as day-old espresso when she finds out that Ryder has been promoted to his precinct’s homicide division. With him risking his life to catch the worst kind of criminals, Juliet’s growing sense of unease ignites when a local college student goes missing.

Suddenly every Nashville resident is on high alert, especially Juliet’s neighbor Chelsea. Juliet does her best to calm the girl’s nerves, but her worst fears are confirmed when she finds Chelsea dead. Even though she tries her best to stay out of it, Juliet’s involvement puts a strain on Ryder’s first homicide case.  The situation soon becomes even more personal for Juliet and her best friend Pete Bennett when one of their employees disappears during her shift. As a killer lurks in the shadows, Juliet, Pete, and Ryder seek out a double shot of justice.

Praise for A Whole Latte Murder

“How Ms. Fardig comes up with these story lines is the true mystery and I am captivated by her imagination and ability to bring the reader into the story. This book has it all—a murder, devilish handsome men, great women friends, wonderful humor and a whole lot of action. If you’re looking for a companion to curl up by the fire with, A Whole Latte Murder can’t be beat.”—Linda Thompson, The Authors Show

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Apparently this book is part of a series. I have not read the previous books. That being said, I had difficulty keeping the characters straight. The story kept my attention but as other reviewers have said the ending was not the best.

A Whole Latte Murder is the third book in Caroline Fardig's Java Jive mystery series. In this edition, we find Java Jive coffee house manager Juliette Langley caught in a mystery involving a missing Vanderbilt coed and a murdered neighbor, also a coed. At this time, Juliette's on again/off again boyfriend, Detective Ryder Hamilton, has had a lateral move to homicide, putting him as the primary investigator for her neighbor's murder. He not only worries for her safety, but also tells her to stay away from the investigation. However, Detective John Stafford of missing persons seeks Juliette's assistance when a second coed and Java Jive employee goes missing, too. When the first missing coed is found dead during a sweep searching for Juliette's employee and a nurse is viciously attacked at the Vanderbilt hospital in exactly the same manner as Ryder's wife was murdered, Ryder becomes terribly distraught and things between him and Juliette take a turn for the worse while the closeness between Juliette and her best friend boss Pete Bennett, who is definitely up for a little sleuthing, intensifies. With a host of suspects, a backstory of those predating on young, broke coeds, and an intricately woven mystery that will keep you guessing until the very end, A Whole Latte Murder will keep you page turning late into the night. I do recommend this book, it definitely delivers!

This is the third book in the Java Jive Mystery Series by Caroline Fardig. Juliet Langley is AGAIN involved in a murder, this time her techie neighbor is accused of murdering one of their neighbors and then a bunch of other ridiculous (but related) stuff happens that for some reason Juliet and Pete must put themselves in harms way rather than allow the police to do their jobs. And then for some inexplicable reason Juliets cop boyfriend, Ryder, basically asks her to get involved in the investigation, but then gets mad when she does. I'm still enjoying this series, but the constant moon eyes that Juliet and Pete keep throwing each other and the constant hot/cold/mean attitude from Ryder is all very tiresome. That said I can't wait for the next book.

Juliet Langley, better known as the Red Headed She Devil, is the coffeehouse manager of Java Jive and an occasional amateur sleuth. The coffeehouse is in a college town. Everyone is on edge due to the disappearance of a coed. Then Juliet finds her neighbor dead in the bathtub with a toaster in the bath water. Seems Juliet has a knack at finding dead bodies. The police warn Juliet to stay out of the investigation until one of the Java Jive employees goes missing. Then she gets involved. Suspense, intrigue, danger, many puzzle pieces to the murder provide an adventure with many twists, turns, break ups, hit and run, broken bones new romantic beginnings and humorous shenanigans. It is the third book in A Java Jive Mystery series. It can be read as a stand alone. Great read. I highly recommend this book. I volunteered to read the Advanced Reader Copy. Thank you to Alibi via Net Gallery for this eBook. My opinion is my own.
