Description
The first book in the Poppy McGuire Mystery Series, The Eleventh Hour introduces readers to Poppy McGuire and her partner in solving crime, Alex Montero. Poppy McGuire has always been a curious soul, but it’s her life that’s usually the topic of conversation in the small town of Sunset Ridge. But now one of the town’s most important citizens has been found murdered, and everyone’s life is suspect. What begins as a friendly wager with her old friend Officer Derek Hampton soon becomes far more for Poppy, and she turns to Alex Montero for help, but the enigmatic former Baltimore cop’s quiet way hides as many secrets as each suspect they encounter. Everyone in Sunset Ridge has something to hide, but Poppy and Alex are determined to uncover the identity of the murderer. They just have to watch they don’t become the next victims.

3By BellaOfTheShirePoppy McGuire’s small town sleuthing begins when an unlikable town resident dies unexpectedly. Poppy immediately sees clues pointing to murder though her friend on the police force doesn’t see it. After making the acquaintance of a retired Baltimore cop, she neglects her job as an investigative reporter to do some real investigating with Alex Montero. I love cozy mysteries but something about the writing on this one reminded me of conversing with teenagers, so I struggled to finish it.Eleventh Hour
5By 4chailattesLoved the mystery in Sunset Ridge. The storyline flowed nicely between the two characters — Poppy and Alex, as they got to know each other and to solve a murder in a quite small town. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.Wanted to like it
2By Mzt121But I couldn’t see what other reviewers saw. The main character should have been someone I liked but some decisions seemed out of character and the whole Alex situation even the ending seemed not well thought out.The Eleventh Hour
