Author and original Twin Peaks co-creator Mark Frost accomplishes a near impossible feat in this work. He is remarkably true to the original and intricate mythology of Twin Peaks, all the while weaving it through fascinating points in American history, either true or legend. These run the gamut from Lewis & Clark expedition to the resignation of President Richard M. Nixon. Twin Peaks characters both original and new are threaded seamlessly into this tale, and the few departures in the book from the original Twin Peaks storyline are of only the least importance. They do not bear any impact on the overall plot's outcome. I am obviously a true Twin Peaks fan, and I cannot explain why I didn't run out and buy this book when it first was released. I think I'm reluctant to support anything that will diminish my memories of what I cherish from 27 years ago. Well, was I ever wrong. Twin Peaks: The Return is nothing shy of a revelatory tour de force, and Mr. Frost's companion Secret History is a compelling roller coaster of a companion book! Thank you, Mr. Frost!

I LOVE the Twin Peaks series and have been anxiously awaiting its return. I found this book and thought it was going to help bridge the gap in time that has taken place since the series end. While it did not bridge the gap, it did provide some insight as to what happened to some of the residents of Twin Peaks since we last saw them. There is also extensive back story which can be a bit boring at times, but does shed light on the motives of the town residents. If you are a big fan, you will enjoy it. Just don't expect a big payoff.

A must-read for any and every true Twin Peaks fan! The insight into what we originally perceived to be a minor character leads us ultimately to great revelation about the characters of the genre-busting series as well as a breathtaking plunge into the new Showtime season. It is not a typical novel read, but it is enjoyable and well written. I, for one, would gladly read more from Frost in this world of Twin Peaks.
