Description

He was just supposed to be a sperm donor…

Desperate to save her daughter’s life, Dr. Amelia Young will do whatever it takes, including show up on the doorstep of the sperm donor who made Jordan’s life possible in the first place.

Chef Finn Hawkins is taken aback by the woman in his kitchen, asking for a donation of genetic material like a cup of sugar. Anonymously donating as a college student was impulsive. Crazy. But how can he refuse to help save the life of the thirteen-year-old daughter he's never met?

Jordan Young has ideas of her own and fate’s got plans for all of them. When Jordan runs off to meet her father, Amelia’s trip to retrieve her takes an unexpected twist.

They’re not supposed to be a family. But Finn finds himself longing for exactly that.

Can he keep this unexpected family, forged in a desperate attempt to save Joran’s life?

Or will the pressure drive them apart?

Loved this love story…not my usual genre, but touched my heart. Family is the glue that holds the story together along with humor in serious topics of high risk pregnancies. I plan to read a few more of her books. Even if most romances lead to an HEA, it is well worth getting to know this family and the love that holds them to each other.

This is the first book by Susan Gable I’ve read, but it won’t be the last. I enjoy stories about unconventional families, and this story has a sick teen, a big family and a strong independent woman who learns from her mistakes. I really loved it and am look to read more about the Hawkins family.

Another wonderful and very different story. This is the second book by this author that I have read and so glad I did. Both books tell stories concerning members of a very large family. Both books are good and long, which I also enjoyed.

Dr. Amelia Young never thought she would beg for help from her daughter's father, but there she was, cup in hand, so to speak. Amelia is insecure in relationships with men due to her childhood and a situation she faced in the past. Trusting Finn will require reevaluation of her entire life. Finn is handsome, hunky, kind, and just as insecure with relationships as Amelia. With two failed marriages behind him, he is gun shy and insecure. Meanwhile Jordan, their daughter, has plans of her own. A smart inventive teenager, Jordan arrives on Finn's doorstep. Following closely behind is her mother, ready to bring her home. However fate has other ideas! The plot of this book is relaxing and entertaining as we learn more of Chef Finn Hawkins and what drives him. The pace of the book was in line with length of story and provided a lazy afternoon of enjoyment. Gable developed her characters throughout the story; watching as Finn and Amelia came to terms with their issues was rewarding. I enjoyed the time spent with the Hawkins family and look forward to book 3 in this series. This book contains several love intense love scenes, which may not be for everyone, however they were not erotic or graphic. I would not hesitate to buy this book for myself or a friend. I received a copy of this book and chose to voluntarily review the book with an honest book review. No one influenced my review.

A FAMILY TO KEEP by Susan Gable. Amelia hired a PI to find one Finn Hawkins a sperm donor, he was to remain anonymous. Her daughter's life is at stake, and needs a donor / a sibling. He says no, until she says why, he was the cause, a brother died, how could he refuse. He wants a kiss, a kiss that is to be savored, before he gives her what she wants. A good story, showing how one can make plans, then some thing happens, it causes one to grow up, to go to any length for family. Well done Susan, looking for more books by you. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
