Description

To help reach their vision of empowering today's students for tomorrow's challenges, Deer Park Junior High has one-to-one iPad for students and iPad and Apple TV for all teachers. As students learn content in class, they frequently use the iPad to connect that learning with the real world. Whether it's something as simple as looking up a real-world example of a concept or using Numbers to create a graph to show results of an experiment, students use the iPad to apply theory to reality. To differentiate learning, iPad enables teachers to personalize instruction to meet each learner's needs.  One example of how students used the iPad for connection to the community is a benefit concert organized by a group of students. iPad allowed students to track auction items, update their web page, email donors and sponsors, design a logo, make the program, build a video slideshow, stay organized, and more. Students who are technology assistants spend one class period each day in the library helping to support technology integration. Through regular professional development and dedicated teacher innovation, iPad has transformed all content areas for all grade levels at this public school.
