Description

On the planet Fortune tech is low, tensions high, and heroes unlikely.

Wrongly convicted of treason, Colonel Gideon Quinn has endured six grueling years harvesting crystal under the killing suns of the Morton Barrens, and fully expects to die there. But the former soldier's fate twists when a general of the Colonial Corps offers Gideon his   freedom, and a chance to clear his name.

Seizing the opportunity, Gideon and his pet draco, Elvis, take 'ship to the city of Nike in search of revenge. And justice. But mostly revenge.

What he finds is plucky street-thief, a city steeped in corruption, and a mysterious enemy hell-bent on safeguarding their deadly secrets.

Now Gideon finds himself involved in an entirely different kind of war, one that, if he loses, will shatter the planet's new and fragile peace.

Soldier of Fortune, Book 1 of the Gideon Quinn Adventures, is set on the ecopunk-inspired planet Fortune, where dracos soar alongside airships and dodgers slip through the streets in search of their next mark. If you like low-tech science fiction, found families, and roller-coaster adventure, you'll love Soldier of Fortune.

Praise for Soldier of Fortune:

•"Soldier of Fortune is a rip-roaring adventure."
•"Gideon Quinn is a "Jack Reacher' of the future"
•"Outstanding action/adventure that depends on its characters rather than gratuitous violence."

Liked it enough to leave my first review. This is superb escapist fantasy, light and wity with enough clever historical and modern cultural references to force any least a few grins from anyone. Fans of Neal Stephenson and more genearally of witty sci-fi, fantasy and steam-punk will love it.
