THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
A Reese Witherspoon x Hello Sunshine Book Club Pick

“There is so much to relate to and throughout the novel, there is a sharp feminist edge. Loved this one, and you will too.”—New York Times bestselling author Roxane Gay

The New York Times bestselling author of The Wedding Date serves up a novel about what happens when a public proposal doesn't turn into a happy ending, thanks to a woman who knows exactly how to make one on her own...

When someone asks you to spend your life with him, it shouldn't come as a surprise—or happen in front of 45,000 people.

When freelance writer Nikole Paterson goes to a Dodgers game with her actor boyfriend, his man bun, and his bros, the last thing she expects is a scoreboard proposal. Saying no isn't the hard part—they've only been dating for five months, and he can’t even spell her name correctly. The hard part is having to face a stadium full of disappointed fans...

At the game with his sister, Carlos Ibarra comes to Nik’s rescue and rushes her away from a camera crew. He’s even there for her when the video goes viral and Nik’s social media blows up—in a bad way. Nik knows that in the wilds of LA, a handsome doctor like Carlos can't be looking for anything serious, so she embarks on an epic rebound with him, filled with food, fun, and fantastic sex. But when their glorified hookups start breaking the rules, one of them has to be smart enough to put on the brakes...

i liked it. it had a lot of dialogue, not much description which isn’t really for me. the whole confession they had felt rushed and weird and unrealistic but overall it was okay.

I so enjoyed this book, but wish I had read it everyday instead of reading a little bit at a time. The story is very modern-day, even if a little exaggerated. The characters are probably people you would find today, like those who help out without strings. I find it sad when a woman has to struggle to know love. Family is everything and can be that difference. I look forward to the next book.

What’s not to love about this story?! So much of this was relatable and real. Had me laughing out loud and really in my feels. Nik and Carlos had great chemistry. Micro mini spoilers ahead ————- I already knew he was a pretty great guy/friend after being introduced in The Wedding Date, but now I really know him. I enjoyed Nik and her friends too. Carlos’ family was awesome. His backstory was also relatable as I’ve had a similar loss. Just, everything about this was great. I highly recommend as another wonderful read by JG. I look forward to reading more of her stories and meeting some of the people I know again. I love how authors do that. Write series that are also standalone reads. It’s so fun. I find myself feeling more attached to characters while encountering this writing style. Enjoy! And oh … fyi: there’s a cupcake recipe from the book on JG website. You’re welcome.

A little tooooo similar to the Wedding Date in the beginning and extra corny but the ending made up for it.

I’d love to push this to 5 stars but I think she needs a new editor to tighten these up. They are all highly readable and fun!
