AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!
Another thrilling domestic suspense novel from the New York Times bestselling author of The Couple Next Door and Not a Happy Family
“A gripping mystery perfect for fans of Agatha Christie.” –Good Housekeeping
“Another nail-biter perfect for an all-nighter.” –Entertainment Weekly
A weekend retreat at a cozy mountain lodge is supposed to be the perfect getaway . . . but when the storm hits, no one is getting away
It's winter in the Catskills and Mitchell's Inn, nestled deep in the woods, is the perfect setting for a relaxing--maybe even romantic--weekend away. It boasts spacious old rooms with huge woodburning fireplaces, a well-stocked wine cellar, and opportunities for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or just curling up with a good murder mystery.
So when the weather takes a turn for the worse, and a blizzard cuts off the electricity--and all contact with the outside world--the guests settle in and try to make the best of it.
Soon, though, one of the guests turns up dead--it looks like an accident. But when a second guest dies, they start to panic.
Within the snowed-in paradise, something--or someone--is picking off the guests one by one. And there's nothing they can do but hunker down and hope they can survive the storm--and one another.

Deliciously Irresistible
5By AMBONDCHCouldn’t put it down! All the twists and turns kept me on my toes & her characters and writing create a world that I can’t get enough of! Highly recommend.Good mystery
4By Lsmdtb5I liked this book a lot. It was almost like an old fashioned who done it. All the characters in a bed and breakfast and they start being killed off. The ending is out of left field, which I loved. No one will guess who, and especially not why. Definitely a good read.Completely shocked, amazing read yet again
5By Holly_Pop22Shari Lapena does it again! This book was amazing! The first few chapters started off slower, but it helps you to understand the characters for in the book. Once things start unraveling, the book had me hooked! I found myself eager to read the next chapter and the next until I was too sleepy to read anymore. I finished in a few days, I couldn’t put it down. I was completely shocked by the ending. This book is a must read! Don’t think, just do it! You won’t regret it.Country Resort Nightmare
4By BCuveTruly a nightmare.. being stuck in a small country resort with no reception and a killer on the loose. This was a great story to go along with all the snow falling outside. I did knock a star cause the twist and the “killer” weren’t that big of a shock to me for some reason but I did enjoy the story. An uninvited guest
4By grammaluA gripping story of when the electricity goes out at an isolated inn. What happens when the days go by without light or heat will keep you coming back for more.Great book!

5By Asherr1Loved the variety of characters in this book, the suspense, the unexpected twist and how engaging it is. I finished this book in one afternoon and I seldom do that.Tried but didn’t succeed
3By BleurockstarWhile the story was very interesting and had potential to be a really good book, it wasn’t. The writing was very repetitive. Instead of expounding on details and fleshing out scenes, the writer spent more time repeating the same phrases, facts and stories.Good read
4By Shun SainA little drawn out but a very solid novel.Would highly recommend!

5By jrcd555As a reader it’s easy to blast an author’s work. Something they have put tremendous amounts thought and energy can be reduced by a biased opinion. I want to love every book I read. I wanted to love this book. I really enjoyed the setup and interplay of the characters. But I was disappointed in the method of the reveal. It felt a bit lazy and uninspired. I wanted a great revelation where things fell into place, and the story got elevated in the end. Instead it had to be explained with a secondary story that played in the background. The final twist was fun, but not profound enough to save me from blasting this review.Couldn’t even finish this book
1By leahkirstenI was excited about this book because I loved this authors other, recent popular book “the couple next door” but sadly there is no comparison. This book was painfully boring, I read about half of it just hoping it would eventually Improve, but unfortunately it did not. I can’t believe this is the same author because The Couple Next Door was such a page turner... but this definitely was not, I don’t recommend.Illogical and Contrived.
2By FastprofAt first I thought I would be taken in to a world of “whodunit”. But for that to be true, the author would need to provide clues cleverly laid. Instead, what we get is “…and another thing that happened…and then another thing that happened…” And, finally, the reason all of this happened is because of somethings revealed at the end that have no roots in any of the character stories laid out as purported clues. Even the culminating “twist” seems contrived and self conscious as “…look, I am throwing in a twist.” Unfortunately, for me, this means I will never read another book by Ms. Lapena.Suspenseful but disappoitning
2By HMF14This is one of those books that is compelling and suspenseful while you read it, but you are ultimately disappointed by an unrealistic and rushed ending. I read it to I find out what happened but was pretty unimpressed. I found the entire plot of the book to be hinged on the reader’s ability to suspend their disbelief that the characters could not have charged their phones or otherwise found help (police helicopter??) It’s also generally poorly written and undeveloped.
