Secret Promises

Jillian and AJ are brother and sister who have lost both their parents. They now co-run a car repair and restoration business that is struggling. When Jameson, an old friend, comes back in town after a 5 year absence, he starts to fill in the gap around the shop. There is an immediate attraction between Jameson and Jillian, but so. Much. Unnecessary. Angst. At first, Jameson tries to avoid the attraction out of respect of AJ, his old friend, even though Jillian pursues him to an almost embarrassing degree. Although, he is gentle and caring with her at all times. Communicates with her through it all. When he decides he can’t live without her, she uses every opportunity to push him away. A small, easily explainable misunderstanding? Well, she never wants to see him again. He looks at her cross-eyed? Don’t ever touch me again. She never gives him a chance to talk to her and immediately freaks out and it’s doomsday. Oh, but she still wants to have sex with him and will tell him that she wants nothing to do with him, wants nothing from him, but anytime she needs physical comfort, then he’s good enough. Honestly, I lost respect for Jameson. He should have walked out and made her GROVEL. Hard core GROVEL to come back to her. Poor guy. He is in for a rollercoaster of a life, especially after being dealt some pretty bad hands already in life. Not continuing in this series. I can’t read any of these characters be abused by this author anymore. And AJ had almost no redemption in this book at all. The only person I liked less than Jillian was AJ, so to read 300 pages of his sanctimonious BS sounds like torture to me.
