Description

Alexander Ashley has decided women of the ton are more interested in status than love. His game is seduction and nothing more. His feelings regarding aristocratic ladies leads to an outlandish idea—prove a servant can be taught to be as ladylike as those born to it. And the beautiful Inis Fitzgerald might be just the woman for his plan.

Inis Fitzgerald escaped her home in Dublin to avoid an arranged marriage and is now working for a rakishly handsome lord who seems to enjoy bucking convention as much as she does. She plays along with his little game, pretending she knows nothing about being a lady. It doesn’t take long before Alex discovers Inis is every bit as much of an aristocrat as the women he’s sworn only to seduce and not love…

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Entangled Publishing through NetGalley and I also purchased a copy of this book as well as I loved it. This is the first book that I have read from this author. I truly enjoyed this intriguing story. Inis flees Ireland dressed as a lad. Through a series of events, she comes to stay with Alex to as a hostler (a groom). Alex immediately discovers that she is a woman as her cap flies off her head as she rides a horse. Alex hatches a plan to teach Inis the fine art of being a lady to trick his brother. Unbeknownst to him, Inis is a Lady as she is a niece to an Irish Duke. This sets off a chain of events that really was a great read. I loved the author having to write the plot from multiple POVs. While this allowed me the reader to understand the different characters' thoughts, it also allows the identity of the person behind the attempts on Inis' life. While this may be a turn-off for other readers, it was not for me. This is a romance story first and foremost and it was intriguing to see how they went about discovering that person's identity. This was one scene that may put a put off to other (a sexual one) but it was not erotically written but was just lightly written. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

If I wanted to read a story with no plot or story line this is the book I would choose. From the first page it was a cheap dime store novel with no substance. I am easily hooked on a story and will read through a lot of crap to see how the author will finish the tale, but this one was thin on story, crude, and just a plain unintelligent attempt at a plot. Couldn’t stomach anymore, I quit reading after a bit. Just too much of a waste of time.

Great read. If you enjoy romance, this book is for you. Alex is truly a gentleman, though a rake. He is kind to his employees, and really dislikes the hoity-toity attitudes of the ton, his brother the duke included. When he discovers that his hostler is not a boy, but a girl, he keeps heron against his better judgment. He teaches her how to be a lady so he can present her in court to spite his brother. It turns out she is not a common girl at all, but the niece of an Irish duke. They fall in love with each other, but his own brother and her uncle are both against it. Read the book to find out how it ends.
