Description

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING SERIES • What if America had a royal family? If you can't get enough of Harry and Meghan or Kate and William, meet American princesses Beatrice and Samantha. Crazy Rich Asians meets The Crown. Perfect for fans of Red, White, and Royal Blue and The Royal We!

Two princesses vying for the ultimate crown.
Two girls vying for the prince's heart.
This is the story of the American royals.

When America won the Revolutionary War, its people offered General George Washington a crown. Two and a half centuries later, the House of Washington still sits on the throne. Like most royal families, the Washingtons have an heir and a spare. A future monarch and a backup battery. Each child knows exactly what is expected of them. But these aren't just any royals. They're American.

As Princess Beatrice gets closer to becoming America's first queen regnant, the duty she has embraced her entire life suddenly feels stifling. Nobody cares about the spare except when she's breaking the rules, so Princess Samantha doesn't care much about anything, either . . . except the one boy who is distinctly off-limits to her. And then there's Samantha's twin, Prince Jefferson. If he'd been born a generation earlier, he would have stood first in line for the throne, but the new laws of succession make him third. Most of America adores their devastatingly handsome prince . . . but two very different girls are vying to capture his heart.

The duty. The intrigue. The Crown. New York Times bestselling author Katharine McGee imagines an alternate version of the modern world, one where the glittering age of monarchies has not yet faded--and where love is still powerful enough to change the course of history.

"The lives of the American royal family will hook you in the very first pages and never let go. Relatable, believable, fantastical, aspirational, and completely addictive." --Sara Shepard, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Pretty Little Liars and Perfectionists series

When I first read the summery I felt like I want going to be very good but I got it anyway and I’m glad I did it is amazing I couldn’t put it down. I love Nina, Sam, and Beatrice the only character I didn’t find interesting was daphine but other than that it was amazing I would totally recommend to anyone you have to read this book.

It seems as if it lacked something or maybe it’s kind of the same plot of what is to be expected I would think. It was a bit confusing at first because I didn’t expect there to be four types of point of views from Beatrice( Future Queen), Samantha( Princess), Nina( Samantha’s Bff), and lastly Daphne( Prince Jeff’s ex Gf). Some of the characters seemed to be a bit annoying and kinda of lacked personality and like ability.
  • Truly a great reimagining of America and her rulers

Honestly this book was a great reimagining of America and American history. I cannot wait for the second book to come out so I can see what ends up of Beatrice, Samantha, Nina, and even Daphne. I got so emotionally invested in these characters and I consumed it as if I were a starving man with no other sustenance. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone, I even got my mom to pick it up! Looking forward to September.

  • I expected more...

Reading this book was, most of the time, boring. Between the POVs of Beatrice, Nina, and Samatha, they all felt boring and too long. The only POV I really wanted to read was Daphnes. Also, the obvious love between characters and then suddenly it’s gone, it seems way too sudden. The cliffhanger was so abrupt, and most of the time I love a good cliffhanger, but I don’t know if I will be reading the next book in this series. Overall, I enjoyed most of the POVs, liked the whole aspect of the monarchy, thought that the romances were interesting, but I cannot get away from the fact that I felt like the book dragged on for too long.

Quick read... I enjoyed the characters, especially Sam and Jefferson! The concept is quite amazing. Never even thought of a royal America! I love the subtle digs at current politics. The diversity of the characters seemed slapped together last minute however.
