Wonderful Character development. Healing from trauma with love.

Got to chapter four before I called it quits. The general plot isn’t bad, girl down on her luck running from what is insinuated as an abusive ex back to her hometown and best friend & best friend’s big brother and naturally sparks fly. But here was my issue, run-on sentences and poor sentence structure. Poor word choices and phrasing, his dad “never bounced back” after his wife unexpectedly died from cancer diagnosed too late. Who “bounces back”? Then the insinuated abusive past relationship. Again I didn’t finish the book so I don’t know what it really was but there were comments “living in fear” “a place to feel safe” a dent in a car door made by a fist, etc. I would’ve expected her to be somewhat skittish around a man she may have grown up with but hasn’t seen in many years, but instead within an hour of arriving she’s fighting the urge to jump his bones. Just doesn’t seem that some of the finer plot points were properly thought through.

Author unable to pull me in. I don’t like storylines that have unrealistic coincidences or setups that are cheesy. Girl always down on her luck, somehow ends up in proximity to an old crush, shocker there’s electricity when they are near or a shock when they touch. OMG he’s across the hall…🙄.

Absolutely loved Jackson and Shay! Also loved that they had a rescue for animals, that melted my heart!

I loved how the main characters were able to get through their pain to find love.

Seriously loving this series

The plot wasn’t fully developed, kept repeating flashbacks and sex scenes. Didn’t enjoy the story.

Good read, no real steams sex scenes but intimate one, cute story but long winded I power read though some of the more meaningless parts to the good parts

I loved this story. The characters were interesting. The writer should write stories about Remy and Dani. They both deserve stories of their own.

I enjoyed this book. It touched on real problems (domestic abuse and PTSD) and the difficulties people have dealing with these issues. The author didn’t try to sugarcoat the struggles or make light of them. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Enjoyed the setting in NC, and the animal rescue (and human rescue) angle.

The author works with two characters damaged in the past with so much vulnerability they don’t intend to enter a committed relationship. Their struggles to deal with each other, loneliness and growing attraction seem realistic. Happy ending are delightful

It gets a bit hot and steamy between the two main characters and I think it helps build their relationship and opens themselves back up to love again.

Loved this story of Jackson and Shay. Individually, they both had shared their own tragedies; Jackson through war and Shay through domestic abuse and rape. Friends forever and best friends with each other’s sibling, they fight desperately against their attraction to each other. The story is sexy, romantic, and encouraging throughout. Enjoy!

This was a quick read with an interesting story. The characters were developed well and kept my interest.
