From Blake Pierce, bestselling author of ONCE GONE (a #1 bestseller with over 900 five star reviews), comes book #13 in the heart-pounding Mackenzie White mystery series.

When bodies are found dead on the rainy shores of Puget Sound and there are no leads in sight, FBI Special Agent Mackenzie White is assigned the case. Believing this to be run-of-the-mill homicides that will let her ease back into the field, Mackenzie soon realizes she’s in for more than she bargained for.

Racing against time and a gruesome body count, Mackenzie finds herself delving into the mind of a psychotic serial killer, caught in a game of cat and mouse. As she struggles to come back to work after just giving birth, she wonders if this may be too much for her to handle.

And when things can’t get any worse, there comes a shocking twist that even she can’t predict.

A dark psychological thriller with heart-pounding suspense, BEFORE HE STALKS is book #13 in a riveting new series—with a beloved new character—that will leave you turning pages late into the night.

  • Good book, but, you guessed it...

These stories are really good, but the editing is really bad. Spelling, tenses, pronouns - mostly off. I didn’t care for the product placement (Pepsi, Starbucks - and I live in Seattle, Starbucks is not that great). Nothing like that in the other books. One other glaring error: when Mac gets to Seattle, it’s mentioned this is her first trip for a case, had only been here once before for a conference... who remembers the case of the storage facilities murderer? I do. #LouBob

So glad we got another installment in the Mackenzie White series! With her life really turning a 360 from the first book, I was so interested in seeing how she handled motherhood and marriage as well as continuing to be a front-runner in her job. I was also really intrigued and interested by her becoming somewhat glorified from the local partner she gets when arriving for her case. In the end of this story, I was definitely intrigued by her decision in relation to this partner and am interested to see how it pans out or if it will be touched upon in the next book. This mystery was different than the typical one we get from Blake within this series, and it kept me on the edge of my seat guessing and trying to figure out how someone could be two places at once and the common factor between the victims. Per usual, I loved the book and couldn’t get enough of not only this series but also this author’s writing. I can’t wait to see what the next book brings! I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
  • She needs a new editor!

I thoroughly enjoy Blake Pierce novels but I’d be willing to wait longer between books for one that’s properly edited. It feels like auto spell check was the only review done on this book. The story is still great but it gives the impression of a low quality, hasty publishing. I hope the next book is better quality.

As usual, Blake Pierce delivers a solid performance from Agent White. The story line was fresh and well thought out. However, I am only giving 4 stars because of the abysmal proofreading in this book. I am very disappointed in the lack of oversight given to grammatical errors and poor use of pronouns. Obviously most readers can figure out the gist of what’s being said, but I would highly recommend next time that a better proofreading job be done before release.

I liked this book except for all the typos. Do you not have a proof reader?

I love all of the woman sleuth stories by Blake Pierce. This is the first one that, while I love the story, I was shocked at all of the grammatical errors. Maybe your publisher should find a new proofreader.
