Description

We were meant to be seductive. We were designed to lure humans in.

Fortuna Sworn is the last of her kind.

Her brother disappeared two years ago, leaving her with no family or species to speak of. She hides among humans, spending her days working at a bar and her nights searching for him. The bleak pattern goes on and on... until she catches the eye of a powerful faerie.

He makes no attempt to hide that he desires Fortuna. And in exchange for her, he offers something irresistible. So Fortuna reluctantly leaves her safe existence behind to step back into a world of creatures and power.

It soon becomes clear that she may not have bargained with her heart, but her very life.

The book was very fun very unique. Not nearly as violent as it could have been, just enough for the Squeamish reader not to be grossed out. I am not that reader. My only issue with the book is the racial crap; first the author depicted the fae as fallen angels, ok great so why then do angels have any specific race or why mention it at all I mean come on a fallen angel screwed a Arab now one of the 1/2 fae wear a burka give me a break. Eye roll, the political correctness and race inclusion is getting ridiculous. I’m surprised there isn’t a Muslim or black leprechaun. A Asian Zeus you get the point. Super annoying.

What an original an unique story! This was very, well written and really drew me in from the start. I like that as much world and character building there was, it never felt bogged down by details. The action starts immediately and really just kept going all the way to the end. I never really knew what direction it was going to take. I like that it was a surprise, but at times I wasn't sure I liked the circumstances. By the end of this book, I don't know how the heroine is going to be happy, which makes me wary. Fortuna is stuck in a world she doesn't want to be in. With a man, or I should say fairy, she doesn't want to be with, but I also can see where he will eventually be someone she does want. Or will she? I'm not even sure of that. Like I said, I have no idea where the author will take this but she has got me hooked. I need to know what happens in the next book. This is only the first book and does end on a cliffhanger.
