Description
In the vein of Downton Abbey, Jane Austen's beloved but unfinished masterpiece--often considered her most modern and exciting novel--gets a spectacular second act in this tie-in to a major new limited television series.
Written only months before Austen's death in 1817, Sanditon tells the story of the joyously impulsive, spirited and unconventional Charlotte Heywood and her spiky relationship with the humorous, charming (and slightly wild!) Sidney Parker. When a chance accident transports her from her rural hometown of Willingden to the would-be coastal resort of the eponymous title, it exposes Charlotte to the intrigues and dalliances of a seaside town on the make, and the characters whose fortunes depend on its commercial success. The twists and turns of the plot, which takes viewers from the West Indies to the rotting alleys of London, exposes the hidden agendas of each character and sees Charlotte discover herself... and ultimately find love.
Reviews
The story was very good, bad ending.
4By Bms5I enjoyed the story and did think the narrative blended well. The end was unsatisfying and felt rushed.Loved it!
5By smotatoI was happy to stumble across this when it was being featured as a new show. The characters are well developed, location is beautiful, and the plot isn’t too heavy or drama filled. Overall, I am so happy I found this but sad that now I have to wait for season 2!Sanditon
5By nat v bartWhat an amazing story! We anxiously await season 2!Loved everything until the end...
2By jraedesignsltdWas loving every piece of this so much so I couldn’t put it down. I’m not much of a reader, but when a book grabs my attention I normally won’t put it down until I finish. I was so excited to finish this and then the ending spoiled everything, not anything of what I was imagining. Very disappointing...Sanditon by Kate Riordan
1By Silvie84This was extremely disappointing. If you are expecting a Jane Austen story, do not read this book.Let down to Jane Austen’s Legacy
1By tflynn615I wanted to like it, but I simply don’t believe it’s true to how Austen would’ve told the story. The ending I find most annoying as it’s not Austen’s style. If you’re trying to finish this to honor her, why not try to make it more like something she would’ve written herself??
