Description
#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Jake Brigance is back! The hero of A Time to Kill, one of the most popular novels of our time, returns in a “riveting” (The New York Times) courtroom drama from “the best thriller writer alive” (Ken Follett).
There is a time to kill and a time for justice. Now comes A Time for Mercy.
Clanton, Mississippi. 1990. Jake Brigance finds himself embroiled in a deeply divisive trial when the court appoints him attorney for Drew Gamble, a timid sixteen-year-old boy accused of murdering a local deputy. Many in Clanton want a swift trial and the death penalty, but Brigance digs in and discovers that there is more to the story than meets the eye. Jake’s fierce commitment to saving Drew from the gas chamber puts his career, his financial security, and the safety of his family on the line.
Bursting with all the courthouse scheming, small-town intrigue, and stunning plot twists that have become the hallmarks of the master of the legal thriller, A Time for Mercy is a richly rewarding novel that is both timely and timeless, full of wit, drama, and—most of all—heart.

4By Dan DailyLike this one a lot. Had to get into it but once I did it was great.Expected More from John
3By GobimonThe story was development was very slow and sometimes burdensome read. I do appreciate the charter development but little payoff for the reader. Still a fan.The ending…..ummmm?!?!?
3By Madmich17I loved this book and then it just ENDED!!!! Seriously John?? WTH!! I’m bummed! Of course I’ll read more but it was a major let down for sure! That’s the reason it’s 3 ⭐️ instead of 5!Great legal intricacies! Love it!
5By jfj38Never a question about the story details with the great writing skills of GrishamNot worth the time
2By JoeprewittToo much idle detail that did not advance the story or illuminate the characters. There was also no resolution to any of the storylines. Very disappointed.A Time for Mercy
5By like his booksAnother book impossible to put down. A typical John Grisham book absolutely. Can’t wait to start the next one. I have read every one of his books. If you like reading his are the ones to read.good read
5By amysnookeygood readDO NOT READ THIS BOOKGreat book until terrible ending
1By Morse1953This well written character portrait has all the Grisham excellence. Until it simply doesn’t end. The story just abruptly stops. No conclusion, not even a saved by the Gods! Just nothing.as if they forgot the final chapter. I am Grisham fan, have loved all his books. I wish I never started this book. If you are a Grisham fan, you will feel as if you got a gut punch in the end. The book is so excellent, instructive, sensitive, multiple plot lines, and then? NOTHING. This book is writer malpractice, if will tear your heart out in a nasty way.Hard to believe Grisham wrote this
2By Bunny+Bunny=koot. The narrative repeats itself ad nauseam as if the publisher only cared about word count. The name Carl Lee Bailey is used so many times one could easily forget who the actual defendant in this story is. Tedious and only marginally entertaining.A Time For Mercy
5By SuzalettyThis book is another book that follows Jake Brigance. First time we saw him was in" A Time to Kill.” I found myself enjoying this book. I felt that I was fully into the plot and the characters. It ended on a high-note, but I felt that the ending was possibly a lead-in to another book. I like John Grisham’ novels. I highly recommend this book.A Question To Ponder
4By pockieA very interesting question sets the tone very nicelyNo hum
3By Doc HIFWas a great read until it petered out at the end. Like the author did not know how to wrap the whole thing up. It just sort of faded away with no surprises. I was hoping for moreGreat book
5By markteachOne of the best books I’ve read this year! Must read. MarkGood book
5By SPDLupiThe book kept me interested until the end. The ending was anticipated. I judge a book is good when after done reading, I wonder what happened next to the characters. I wonder happening to these characters.Absolutely a great read.
5By edowe02A fantastic read. Many of Grisham’s books are great and keep you on edge throughout. This did no disappoint. Anxiously awaiting the next publishing.Mercy Denied
3By Magick666Not Grisham's best. Started hot, but died in a pool of slow courtroom procedure. Actual court was riveting but was way at the end and needs a sequel to complete the story arc.A great read.
5By Rhinosandy IIIAlways a great story teller.
