Description

I was fine existing on copious amounts of chocolate. But, thanks to Fenris’s less than helpful intervention, Mom’s building a nightclub named “Man-beef Buffet.” My hell is only beginning.

Hounded by the Academy's guidance counselor, smothered by her mother, and harassed by a perverted brownie, Eliana’s patience for well-meaning help is thinning. She has more important matters on her plate. Like, dealing with the repercussions of a backfired spell while avoiding the local, hot werewolf.

When something starts stalking her, Eliana decides she’d done playing by everyone else’s rules. She might be afraid to feed, but she’s far from weak. The beast pursuing her will soon feel what it’s like when the hunter becomes the hunted.

Warning: Contains a starving succubus with violent reactions to sex toys, a loving mom who supports nudism, and a brownie with fertility issues. Recommended for mature teen readers and up.

This was one of my most anticipated reads of 2021 and it did not disappoint. I will try not to spend my entire review proclaiming the many reasons I adore Fenris. Just know there is a list. *Hides scroll behind back* My love for Eliana and Fenris grew stronger with each page and chapter they spent together. I appreciated how he always respected her feelings, but was not afraid to give her a little push now and then. His faith and support in her was one of my favorite parts of the book. Along with his penchant for teasing her. I found myself goofily smiling at most of their interactions. If only I could find a werewolf boyfriend. (I will always be down to give you a hug, Fenris. Say the word!) Melissa has such a great way of making you feel Eliana’s frustration. That hopelessness and loneliness of pushing people away to protect everyone around you. All the while, putting your own happiness and true nature on the back burner. She’s so much stronger than she gives herself credit for, and I admire her selflessness. Lastly, Piepen. Oh....Piepen. Let’s just say Eliana once again has more patience than I ever could have with you. Now, I leave you with one of my favorite Fenris quotes: “You will never lose me, Eliana. No matter what you say…no matter what you do…I will always be here for you.” Go forth, and read, my children! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Going back to Utirra was absolutely amazing! I love how Melissa built the anticipation and story, giving her readers everything they wanted without it feeling monotonous. Book 2 of Eliana’s story is even better than book 1 and makes me extremely excited for the next one 🤗. The deeper view that the readers get from Fenris in this book is awesome. There’s much more than meets the eye with him and seeing him be more than playful and humorous all the time was just what I needed. Do not hesitate to order this book, you won’t want to put it down!!! Thanks Melissa for giving me a new adventure to delve into this past weekend.

Gawd I cannot express the feels I have from this book. The tension! It’s absolutely tangible! Eliana is adorably clueless and Fenris may be my favorite politely obsessive stalker. Gah. The suspense from the end may have me keeling over. If I die from this book... bless my soul because imma haunt people until I get my ending. Wow! That is seriously the only thing I can say! This book was amazing. Just like the first book I had the hardest time putting it down. I love Fernis and how he is always there for Eliana even when she doesn’t know he is. I love seeing there relationship grow in this book. So many ups and downs. I seriously can’t get enough of them and can’t wait to find out what happens next! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

While Melissa Haag is an incredibly talented writer and I thoroughly enjoy the world she built in Mantirum, I’m struggling with this one. The overall story line did not much advance in this book, which I was fine with given it was entertaining, but I’m having a hard time with the Fenris character. He’s every bit as manipulative as Adira, but worse since he’s essentially raping Eliana by engaging her in sexual activity without her knowledge or consent. I’m really hoping for some actual consequences in book 3, but am not expecting it.

The second book in the By Kiss and Claw series did not disappoint. An overall well written series with more to come in the final installment! I loved the character development and foreshadowing. Can’t wait to finish the series! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
