Description
A heart as lonely as the ocean…
Hannah and Wycliff arrive at his ancestral estate in Dorset as tragedy strikes the coastal village. A young woman has lost her life to the tempestuous ocean, but only Hannah suspects the woman’s death is anything but a horrible accident. As Hannah learns more about life in the close-knit community, she discovers two other women lost their lives to the sea. Or did they?
A rift grows between the young couple, as Wycliff refuses to believe another hand was responsible for the deaths. With her husband consumed by the needs of the long neglected estate, Hannah is left to her own devices and finds herself walking the same lonely path as the dead women.
Can Hannah and Wycliff heal the chasm in their relationship, or will Hannah succumb to the call of the ocean…?

3By PalatableDinnerMysteries reside in Mireworth waiting to be uncovered. This made for a pleasant read despite the plot being predictable and the writing circular and repetitive at times. With all the complications surrounding the Miles family with death, undeath, and marriage, it’s odd Hannah doesn’t question whether Frank is legally eligible to marry when he’s five corpses sewn together with their souls still attached. Wycliff also strangely claims, “Dead women [can’t] recount what had happened in their last moments.” This after having used his hellhound to question lingering spirits in previous books but never once considers seeing if Sarah’s spirit is still around to do the same. Trying to draw a parallel between a Greek griffin and a presumably Egyptian sphinx feels like a stretch because while they both are part lion, according to mythology griffins possess the head of an eagle while sphinxes have the head of a human, making it very difficult to mistake one for the other.Bah, love.
5By mbluesheThese wonderful books are too quick of a read, or possibly I just cannot set them down!Like a song, it called to me...
5By Adelaide1893I read this book in probably personal record time because I just had to know what happened next! The seaside analogies and theming truly made me feel as though I could smell the salty air of the seaside. Aside from the setting, the characters have been developing and opening in different ways, feeling more like friends than characters to be watched.
