A Goodreads Top 60 Book of the Last 5 Years
Don’t miss the #1 New York Times bestselling blockbuster and Reese Witherspoon Book Club Pick that’s sold over 3 million copies—now streaming on Apple TV+ starring Jennifer Garner!
The “page-turning, exhilarating” (PopSugar) and “heartfelt thriller” (Real Simple) about a woman who thinks she’s found the love of her life—until he disappears.
Before Owen Michaels disappears, he smuggles a note to his beloved wife of one year: Protect her. Despite her confusion and fear, Hannah Hall knows exactly to whom the note refers—Owen’s sixteen-year-old daughter, Bailey. Bailey, who lost her mother tragically as a child. Bailey, who wants absolutely nothing to do with her new stepmother.
As Hannah’s increasingly desperate calls to Owen go unanswered, as the FBI arrests Owen’s boss, as a US marshal and federal agents arrive at her Sausalito home unannounced, Hannah quickly realizes her husband isn’t who he said he was. And that Bailey just may hold the key to figuring out Owen’s true identity—and why he really disappeared.
Hannah and Bailey set out to discover the truth. But as they start putting together the pieces of Owen’s past, they soon realize they’re also building a new future—one neither of them could have anticipated.
With its breakneck pacing, dizzying plot twists, and evocative family drama, The Last Thing He Told Me is a “page-turning, exhilarating, and unforgettable” (PopSugar) suspense novel.
Reviews
Great read!!!
5By IMAAA56Love mysteries and this one keeps you wanting more!!very good
4By Whim1954I had trouble making the connections that finally solved the mystery…the whole Austin tie in seemed weak. But I enjoyed how stepmother and stepdaughter reconciled their differences to solve this twisty story. (stepmom showed greater patience than I would). I enjoy all of Reese’s pick.Stellar Storytelling
5By WhatusaymarkAfter seeing that this book was turned into a show for Apple TV, I got interested because I haven’t seen the book they adapted yet that wasn’t fascinating. This was my first book I’ve read by Laura Dave, but I’m pretty sure it won’t be my last. It was an excellent read, and I feel all the loose ends were tied up nicely. It’s definitely one that puts you through an emotional wringer as the reader, but it was a journey I enjoyed taking. Highly recommended.Good potential, bland ending
3By Sirena:)This book had so much potential with the story and how much suspense they had built just for the ending to give no satisfaction whatsoever Just completely cut off at the peak of the suspense So many questions unansweredNot enough suspense
2By adenisaDrags on for too long. It becomes hard to want to keep reading it after a whileThe Last Thing He Told Me
2By CoachPuffToo long…very predictable…glad when finally finished it!Better then great

4By jaira jaiBut there’s just some parts ur like ugh why didn’t she do that whyyy so it was a great read I definitely finished In two sittings and I work full time so that says a lot. Will be reading more of their work if it’s in this type of genreHard to put down
5By Beth ProkoDefinitely kept me wanting to read more. Unexpected twists and turns made for an interesting story.Left me hanging
3By ColleenARFI felt that the story could have been flushed out more. There were a few things that were not really finished. I feel like the author spent too much time on building up suspense without hashing out all of the dramatic moments. The ending was great but seemed premature.Could not put it down
5By caitbai0530The narrative, the voice… I was drawn into this world and story. The author did a fantastic job of creating natural dialogue, developing the characters subtly, going back and forth between them and now.. it was truly an easy and addicting read!So-so story
3By HapplebyMeh…not anything special. Story with some editing errors in early chapters and a historical timeline with OxyContin that doesn’t make sense. I wouldn’t recommend.Drew me in
5By Fun readTruly enjoyed the main character. Had a hard time putting the book down - such a good read!Awesome read
5By Caro4artI couldn’t put this book down. Characters are important to me and this author did a great job of describing each one. I was able to imagine how each person looked. I’ve lived in California most of my life, visited Austin a few times. I enjoy books that take me to where I have familiarity. The length of the book was perfect. Story kept moving even with its twists and turns. Give it a try. You won’t be sorry.A Five Star Read
5By Benal BulldogGreat book quick read. Really enjoyed Great writer. So good and then so bad
2By .kdub.Well written and so compelling.… but then it ends abruptly. It almost seems lazy. Can’t say I’d recommend this one now that I’m done.
