It’s been five years since Detective Amanda Steele’s life was derailed by the tragic death of her young daughter. The small community of Dumfries, Virginia, may have moved on, but Amanda cannot. When the man who killed Lindsey is found murdered, she can’t keep away from the case.
Fighting her sergeant to be allowed to work such a personal investigation, Amanda is in a race to prove that she can uncover the truth. But the more she digs into the past of the man who destroyed her future, the more shocking discoveries she makes. And when Amanda finds the link between a silver bracelet in his possession and the brutal unsolved murder of a young woman five years ago, she realizes she’s caught up in something darker than she ever imagined and suspects that more girls could be in danger.
But as Amanda edges toward the truth, she gets closer to a secret as personal as it is deadly. Amanda has stumbled upon a dangerous killer, and she must face some terrible truths in order to catch this killer – and save his next victim as she couldn’t save her own daughter…
A gripping, page-turning thriller full of mystery and suspense. Perfect for fans of Rachel Caine, Lisa Regan and Robert Dugoni.

Worth the read
4By TessaPetrGood storyAn easy read
4By Tigerlily TThis story isn’t too deep or too hard to keep up with. It flows nicely, and the twists are foreshadowed a lot, so they’re not too shocking. It was an easy read. It’s something you could read in short bursts. Good story!Well written
5By Carrie Rockwell AmerindI’ve been a mystery/murder/thriller fan for a very long time. Pleasantly surprised at how fast paced the stories of the characters were written. I never lost interest in the outcome or felt as though the characters and stories were of little value. Very enjoyable even when one of the story lines got extremely personal for me. The humanity was always on the surface and the ending was… You’ll have to read to find out.Crime thriller
4By Robins Nest St Augustine FLStory was compelling, heartbreaking at times and thrilling as well. Lots of twists and turns and believable characters and plot. Enjoyed reading this one.I swear I’ve read another series like this
3By Purple_Cat74It was by another author, it had the same exact names, just in different parts. But it was better put together…Alan or like this one was a copy lolGREAT BOOK!

5By CMattiaThis was such an amazing book that I went online and purchased two more of her books in the Amanda Steele series. You can’t help but love Detective Steele and love her passion for justice. I’m hooked! I cannot wait for my books to come in the mail!!!Completely caught off guard
5By mitime3I found myself getting caught up from the beginning. I truly appreciate a strong female lead. I was totally unprepared for the ending.Quick and interesting read-surprise ending.
5By paintponygirlMade me decide to read some of her other books.Needed Better Research
3By no nonsense nanceWhile the author weaves an interesting story, the editors and proofreaders don’t do a very good job. Mistakes abound in grammar, tense, and other ways. Those mistakes intrude on my enjoyment of the book. I’ve always been an avid reader but never saw any errors in books I could hold in my hand. E-books are a whole different story. By the way, Xanax comes in tablets, not capsules!Could not put it down!
5By JanieLochteGreat book! I lost a bit of sleep because I read it well past my bedtime. I’m going to find another of Carolyn’s books tomorrow!Captivating

5By Deidre59Can you pick yourself up after a terrible loss. You follow her as she works to do her job and try to keep herself from falling apart. You just can’t put the book down. The suspense is gripping.Couldn’t put it down
5By chelseyd1212This book had me gripped from beginning to end. I’ve found it difficult caring about the detectives back story with other mystery/crime books but the way her story her case intertwined really made perfect sense and allowed me to care for the detective and her life just as much as I was rooting for her to solve the case. I definitely will look into other books within this series. The Little Grave
5By Pins4Enjoyed the book and the characters in it! It’s interesting to read who the figure out who did it.Love it!
