“It’s taken a mere two books for Richard Osman to vault into the upper leagues of crime writers. . . The Man Who Died Twice. . . dives right into joyous fun."
—The New York Times Book Review
Elizabeth, Joyce, Ron and Ibrahim—the Thursday Murder Club—are still riding high off their recent real-life murder case and are looking forward to a bit of peace and quiet at Cooper’s Chase, their posh retirement village.
But they are out of luck.
An unexpected visitor—an old pal of Elizabeth’s (or perhaps more than just a pal?)—arrives, desperate for her help. He has been accused of stealing diamonds worth millions from the wrong men and he’s seriously on the lam.
Then, as night follows day, the first body is found. But not the last. Elizabeth, Joyce, Ron and Ibrahim are up against a ruthless murderer who wouldn’t bat an eyelid at knocking off four septuagenarians. Can our four friends catch the killer before the killer catches them? And if they find the diamonds, too? Well, wouldn’t that be a bonus? You should never put anything beyond the Thursday Murder Club.
Richard Osman is back with everyone’s favorite mystery-solving quartet, and the second installment of the Thursday Murder Club series is just as clever and warm as the first—an unputdownable, laugh-out-loud pleasure of a read.

5By BigJim67!Delightful writing. The author has a really comfortable storytelling style with his main characters coming across like old friends who don’t disappoint. The reader’s main challenge is not to go running off willy-nilly to purchase the next installment as soon as it drops.Love this series

5By solve4lifeA perfect summer mystery read. I laughed out loud, while still solving along and eager for each page turn. I am grateful to these characters for being both easy to know and love, and for being so truthful about age, and fear, and life. There is dignity here; also, a witty and worthy mystery. The Man Who Died Twice
5By gardener15Very good read. I’m a murder mystery fan and this series is one of the best. Question: what did Joyce say to get Iberhim out of the house?Golden Girls Meets Murder She Wrote
5By E. RoucoThis series is sooooo good. Well written. Dry humor. Very funny. Great plots. Love the characters so much. They draw you in and you want to know them. I very highly recommend these books. SUPERB!A great read
5By kgballardThis book is a delight, as was Mr. Osman’s first in this series. Wonderful characters, engaging mysteries, and more than a few laugh-out-loud moments. I cannot recommend this read too highly! My only complaint is the wait between books - please hurry!!!Another compelling read
5By English Prof..I respectfully disagree with Joan Smith’s comment in The Times review that Osman does not take murder seriously and that “both novels lack the underlying moral seriousness that is an essential ingredient of the best crime fiction.” First, murder is very rarely treated with the seriousness it deserves in crime fiction or in life, so the comment is rather pretentious. Second, the focus of both novels is not the murders but the characters themselves. In a culture that dismisses the relevance of the elderly, Osman’s novels remind us that wrinkles and age do not diminish people’s complexities and humanity. The wit and humor of both novels contain a moral seriousness without being didactic. How refreshing. The worst part of reading these novels is having to accept we can’t actually go to Cooper’s Chase on a Thursday to have tea and cake with the club. The second novel does not disappoint. When is the third due to be released? So good!
5By KitKat514This book is so funny. I don’t remember the first one being this hilarious. Although, it was delightful. I love the characters. The mystery is fun too.Love It
5By carocrossI’m ready for a whole bunch more of these books. Such fun! Fantastic cast of characters and excellent plot. Hope movie out soon. And I and me one of my pet peeves too.
