"The perfect escape for readers wanting to get away."—Booklist
One woman takes the vacation of a lifetime in this poignant and heartwarming story about the threads that hold a family together from #1 New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery.
Single mom Robyn Caldwell needs a new plan for her future. She has always put her family first. Now, with her kids grown, she yearns for a change. But what can she do when her daughter has become the most demanding bride ever, her son won’t even consider college, her best friend is on the brink of marital disaster and her ex is making a monumentally bad decision that could ruin everything?
Take a vacation, of course. Press reset. When her great-aunt Lillian invites her to Santa Barbara for the summer, Robyn hops on the first plane to sunny California.
But it’s hard to get away when you’re the heart of the family. One by one, everyone she loves follows her across the country. Somehow, their baggage doesn’t feel as heavy in the sun-drenched, mishmash mansion. The more time Robyn spends with free-spirited Lillian, the more possibilities she sees—for dreams, love, family. She can have everything she ever wanted, if only she can muster the courage to take a chance on herself.
Don't miss #1 New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery's latest masterpiece, For the Love of Summer, a captivating story that weaves together the complexities of family, friendship, and unexpected bonds.

Not enjoyable
2By josie6719I didn’t think this book was great. I didn’t enjoy reading it. Wish it could be betterSuper Fun Read
5By Poseygirll87Love the story line and all the characters. Kept me interested the whole timeCannot finish it
1By ReadingMomma4It has taken me weeks to get almost halfway. But I think I’m going to give up and accept the fact that I lost money on it. The story is repetitive. Not really moving forward. And it’s not at all romantic. Just trashy.Starts a bit slow
3By wyomom2It was a bit predictable, and the characters were not very inviting In the beginning, but Mason kept me interested. Predictable but sweet ending, good for a light read.Delightful
5By Cheryl33610I absolutely adored this book! Robyn was a delightful character and the calm in everyone else’s storm. She’s level headed and caring, although a bit self-sacrificing at times. Her relationship with her children is wonderful, even if they…okay, just Harlow…are not at times. I won’t comment on all the people in the book, but will say that Lillian was my favorite. She was spunky, kind and extremely honest. She reminded me of my grandmother, minus the cocktail hour! She was written in such a way that I felt her personality throughout the pages of the book. Not to leave out Mason, either. I loved the relationship between not only he and Robyn, but his fondness for Lillian, as well as Robyn’s childhood. He’s a good, solid man. That may sound a bit stiff and possibly boring, but I think it’s what every woman, or man, deserves. One last thing I wanted to mention. Lillian’s house. Ms. Mallory’s description brought it to life for me. I’ve always had a fascination with the Winchester house in San Jose, which is compared to Lillian’s sprawling, sometimes confusing mansion in the book. I’ve always wanted to visit it. And now, I feel like I have, just a bit.Friends & Family
5By chell uGreat read! This book has it all - family, friendships, and romance. Great motivating book to look at yourself and the chances and choices you take and make. Many twists and turns to keep the reader engaged. Couldn’t put it down and was sad when it was done.Love the family dynamics and drama!
5By TigressdanaSusan Mallery is amazing at capturing how real families and their drama can affect lives. The dynamics feel so real. You can picture the hurt and love in the characters. I love that her books aren’t only about romance but family. Her characters learn and grow throughout the book. Great summer read! (And I love the cover!)The Summer Getaway

5By DaneWeimMamaThe Summer Getaway was such a fun read. I loved Robyn, instead of focusing on issues in her life negatively she figured out a new plan to make herself happy. This book was also FUNNY! Plus it had a good dose of romance mixed in with family drama. Another winner by Susan Mallery I received this ARC free from the author. The review was voluntary. The opinions my own.
