Description

A peacock and a peahen shifter make a deal to take part in a fake courtship, but the members of Shifter Society aren't the only people they are fooling.

Esther's expectations from the Season are low, even if her parents seem intent on controlling every aspect of it, including who she might marry.

Peacock shifter Laurence has grown tired of the attention being one of the most desirable catches of the marriage market and wants nothing more than to be left in peace.

When the two of them enter a fake courtship with the intention of taking attention away from them, they discover that not every lie is based on a falsehood.

The Peacock and the Wallflower is a paranormal Regency romance with peafowl shifters, a fake courtship, a wallflower, and a friendship turned more. It is part of the Shifter Season series and includes a sweet m/f romance.

If you love shifters combined with courtship, formal balls, witty courtships, and all the trappings of a Regency setting, you should start The Shifter Season series today!

I really enjoyed this story. I really enjoy this new series by Laura Greenwood. I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed the 'fake' romance between Laurence and Esther. Esther is a wallflower this season with an overbearing mother. Laurence just wants to have all the matchmaking mothers and their daughters to get off his back. He knows what he wants in a wife and needs the time to find her. They meet through mutual friends and enjoy a dance. He comes up with an idea of them having a fake courtship. She agrees and soon their feelings for each other begins to grow. Will they turn this fake courtship into a real one? I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This paranormal romance is a page-turner with shifters in this urban fantasy book. The characters are exceptional and well-developed and live in a world full of magic. The author is extraordinary and knows how to captivate her reader’s attention with a peacock and a wallflower shifter, and magic. A fun, sweet, slow romance… the rules and fuss of yesteryear’s made for long drawn out events but these sound rather enjoyable. Laurence and Esther are a wonderful match and a great acquaintance to mate romance. A very YA story and looking forward to the next story in the series! The regency period really isn't my thing. Where the men have the say and women are the prize, however, this did have a much more independent FMC than I expected. I liked the characters, disliked the FMC mother, didn't feel the pull of the world that Laura Greenwood was building in this book. It was a short read and maybe if longer I could have gotten more invested. I have truly enjoyed all other Laura Greenwood's other books so the setting is just not my think. It was a sweet, HEA, romance. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Return to the world of matchmaking and Victorian England with a shifter twist as Esther meets Laurence and they agree to a plan to make the Season more enjoyable. But of course things do not go as planned and got a fun story with good characters that I both liked and and me roll my eyes. Funny scenes and banter kept me reading to the end. Enjoyed it and kept me entertained.

Mild spoilers We met Esther in the first book of the series a timid peacock shifter who believes she is destined for spinsterhood or a pity marriage thanks to her mother’s dour attitude. Laurence is the catch of the season a third son of a marquis and quite the charmer. He tires of the inane chatter and ladies clamoring for his attention to get at his wealth. So the two enact a plan pretend to court so that they can find suitable partners for themselves and avoid unpleasant or over eager suitors. An unconventional start to a love story but interesting to watch how true feelings unfold. Love the sweet romance and the relationship that develops from a most unusual beginning. I enjoy the cameos from Victoria and Edmund from the first book as they pass the baton so to speak to the next couple we watch fall in love. A sweet quick read to brighten up your day.
