Description
A cryptic murder pulls a former soldier turned financial analyst deep into the corruption and menace that prowl beneath the opulent world of finance, in this #1 New York Times bestselling thriller from David Baldacci.
Every day without fail, Travis Devine puts on a cheap suit, grabs his faux-leather briefcase, and boards the 6:20 commuter train to Manhattan, where he works as an entry-level analyst at the city’s most prestigious investment firm. In the mornings, he gazes out the train window at the lavish homes of the uberwealthy, dreaming about joining their ranks. In the evenings, he listens to the fiscal news on his phone, already preparing for the next grueling day in the cutthroat realm of finance. Then one morning Devine’s tedious routine is shattered by an anonymous email: She is dead.
Sara Ewes, Devine’s coworker and former girlfriend, has been found hanging in a storage room of his office building—presumably a suicide, at least for now—prompting the NYPD to come calling on him. If that wasn’t enough, before the day is out, Devine receives another ominous visit, a confrontation that threatens to dredge up grim secrets from his past in the army unless he participates in a clandestine investigation into his firm. This treacherous role will take him from the impossibly glittering lives he once saw only through a train window, to the darkest corners of the country’s economic halls of power . . . where something rotten lurks. And apart from this high-stakes conspiracy, there’s a killer out there with their own agenda, and Devine is the bull’s-eye.

No the greatest…
2By Just don't please please!!I am hoping the other stories in this series get better. I love all of his books, but this one was hard to even like. I did not care about the characters and Area 51? Come on. Too many holes in this one.Kept Me Reading
5By kokomoprincessjohn316I found this book full of twists and turns, and very hard to put down. Right up to the last few pages, surprises abound! Can’t Put this Book Down
5By WardlawkmWhat a great book. All the mysteries are solved in the end and boy did I guess wrong. I love surprises and suspense. Ther are tons of both in this book.Somehow good and not great.
4By Tacboy2023There is storytelling, intricate story telling and then storytelling that becomes so absurd at the end you can decide was this good and also not good at the same time. The ending is both so exciting, complicated, and completely ridiculous that it left me a bit frustrated.Fast & Intriguing

5By Dantes1002PeakExciting read. I enjoyed the plot. Plenty of action and a bit of suspense. DekeSuperficial
3By Savannah GabbertNot the best by this writer. Characters lack depth and dialogue is boring. I felt like I was reading a story proposal for a movie, not a fresh work of fiction. A real waste of time.Disappointing
1By CJ_31_31Book plot is lameThe 6:20 Man
5By PeaceIsMyMantraGreat read! Kept me guessing, wrong I might add, till the very end.Average at best…
2By Findaddy16Might be a good read for a teenage boy…Perfect
5By STompkins66Great suspense! Hard to put down!Tired twists and turns…..
3By boaris57I think Baldacci has twist and turn fatigue. The back story is what the book is about. The main story is wrapped up too quickly. It is also a convenient twist or turn. Too many good guys gone and for an innocuous reason. Typically good character development from the author. His always stay with me a while. In the end I just wanted it to end. Still I will read the second installment!!Good read
3By Newx2024Good fast paced thriller but ending could have been better. Few gaps in the storyline different from today’s reality makes story hard to believe for eg no cameras in the floor of Area 51 is un fathomable in this day and age.Great book, totally not the ending expected!
5By G'Momma DFly!Great book! Totally not the ending I expected!Good fun read
5By MDToonfanAnother well written David Baldacci novelSolid read
4By OTTADABLUWorth reading even if a bit uninspired and predictable at times. I am considering continuing the series but next one is a little pricey for this level of talent.Just meh…
2By Greg CalkinsBoring and convoluted with weak plot. I won’t be coming back for the next novel. The 6:20 Man
4By wadenofLot’s of pieces; seemed a little disjointed. But, good story.
