No need to waste your time

All the best trading books are the ones people don’t recommend. There is some good info here on addictive personalities and how trading can be a recipe for disaster for them. The sort of emotional disattachment that this book preaches, however, will get you into big trouble if you do not have a thorough understanding of the financial markets. You absolutely need to feel the sting of your losses if you are to learn from your mistakes. I’m doing well now, but earlier in my trading journey, I proceeded to promptly lose money after reading this book.

An essential read to be successful in the stock market. Make this a requirement for yourself before you ever trade a dollar of your own.

The book is mainly focused on trading psychology. Don’t pick this up if you are looking for strategies or TA guides. Over all enjoyed this book. It’s a relatively quick read. The author primarily used analogies and stories to get his point across. At times it’s rather repetitive but the author has some solid points that he wants to hammer into our brain. I would recommend this book for any trader at any experience level. I’ve learned quite a bit about the human mind through this book (even outside of the markets). I now have a better understanding of the complex emotions that I’ve experienced while reading and how many (if not most) of these beliefs/responses are self deprecating. The author focuses primarily on developing consistency and explains how holding that as a goal can perpetuate a trader into all in which they desire. I will be applying several of these concepts to my own trading and recommend this book to fellow traders.

Here, I’ll go ahead and tell you how this book reads…. Trading mindset, is all about the trading mindset, it’s because you need to be in the trading mindset. If not in the trading mindset then there is no trading mindset which is imperative to the aforementioned trading mindset. You are the trading mindset, we are the trading mindset, we should all be the trading mindset. Insert conclusion. What an embarrassing book to be the author of.

It completely revamps your mental thoughts, emotions, beliefs of trading. I have become such a better trader since reading.

Highly recommended for seriously traders who want to consistently trade well.

All about feelings and no strategy on trading.

The principles in this book will give you a solid foundation in your psychology and systems in day trading that is necessary to becoming consistent. I would highly recommend reading.

CONSISTENCY. CONSISTENCY. CONSISTENCY. If you have the trading problems addressed in this book, then the book will be useful. I took off one star because the writer uses that turgid, preposition-ridden language common to his field. Reviewers who complain about repetitiveness have a point, but if you are motivated to improve your trading and have wondered why you are not making progress quickly enough, undermine your gains with disastrous losses, and cannot be CONSISTENT, then the language and repetitiveness are a small price to pay. The last two chapters helped me the most, but the concepts would have gone over my head had I not read the preceding chapters. The Attitude Survey and detailed Exercise at the end of the book were helpful.

As a professional poker player looking to transition into trading, Douglas does a great job of covering the most important facet of both industries, that being the mental side, in which most of your money is won or lost. I have never even made a trade before but I believe reading this book before hand is definitely setting me on the correct path early on to look objectively at my process as I go along and improve. Will definitely be a keeper on my bookshelf.

Great read in order to prepare one's self mentally for trading.

I am new to trading I have only studied to understand the market so far. I feel very fortunate to have had the priviledge of buying and reading this book. The awareness given in this book has helped me to think like a casino owner rather than a casino player, I'm using this illustration symbolically. Thank you Mr Douglas, Joe Cardenas
