"Thoughtful . . . heart-wrenching . . . . An exercise in soul-baring storytelling—with the soul belonging to 20th-century America itself. It's hard to read and to stop reading, and impossible to forget." — USA Today
Dominick Birdsey, a forty-year-old housepainter living in Three Rivers, Connecticut, finds his subdued life greatly disturbed when his identical twin brother Thomas, a paranoid schizophrenic, commits a shocking act of self-mutilation. Dominick is forced to care for his brother as well as confront dark secrets and pain he has buried deep within himself—a journey of the soul that takes him beyond his blue-collar New England town to Sicily’s Mount Etna, the birthplace of his grandfather and namesake. Coming to terms with his life and lineage, Dominick struggles to find forgiveness and finally rebuild himself beyond the haunted shadow of his troubled twin.
I Know This Much Is True is a masterfully told story of alienation and connection, power and abuse, devastation and renewal—an unforgettable masterpiece.

5By kaykaybean13Wally LAMB can write like the mastery writer imaginative and creative complex dynamic human experience can really be. He doesn’t hold back the ugliest the horrors or the abuses and oppressions that some are causing to others out of plain social status bigotry and ignorance but he can come to express the beauty the empathy the compassion and courage humanity can be as wellI know this much is true

5By CJ-ColemanAmazing storyteller. There were times I had to “rest” from reading this book but was quickly drawn back and anxious to continue. Interesting and multifaceted characters, a bit of history and heartfelt life lessons. It’s a long and sometimes painful story but well worth every moment and every page. At times had me wondering when it would end but was disappointed when it actually did. Highly recommend. I’ll read more of Wally Lambs books.Wonderful book!
5By Ribar5It took me a while to get into this book. It was one of those I picked up and put down quite a few times in the beginning, but when I finally settled into it, I couldn’t put it down. There’s a lot to be learned from this book, from our history.I Know This Much Is True

5By CollegeStudent92Amazing book. It took me a long time to get into it but the excellent writing and knowing it was my mother's favorite book kept me going back to it. It is an awesome story with complex and interesting characters. Recommend for all.One of my Favorites
5By Rachebelle082The only disappointment about this book is reaching the end. This is probably why I have read this book over and over again, along with another one of Lamb's, 'She's Come Undone'. Wally Lamb is one of my most favorite authors- I wish he would come out with a new novel! I have a hard copy of this book, and I had to have it in digital as well.
