The Movie
3By Other sci-fi guyI still can't quite get past the sometimes awkward style of writing, but I must say it would make an excellent screenplay. The complicated nature of the parallel plots and long, run-on paragraphs with no character identifiers makes is easy to get lost in such a long series. However, the visual imagery of a movie would give the stories immediate clarity. The books are already divided into acts, scenes and episodes and the sudden shifts in locale are almost written for cinema. The subject matter is superbly chosen for the stories and compares favorably to Star Trek Next Generation or Battlestar Galactica. The settings and personalities of the TV show are extremely similar right down to the technical nerdiness. The story line is unique, however, and quite compelling. Though probably too rich for mainstream audiences; In the hands of the right producer these books could be a series of successful independent or HBO movies.Great story--needs an editor for polishing
3By WyoGlLove the multi-faceted story, characters, action, tech, plot twists, and setting. However, I cringe while reading due to the numerous spelling errors, punctuation and capitalization mistakes, awkward and/or incomplete sentences, and grammar problems. Please pay a professional editor to put the polish on these books. This one reads like a sneak preview before the final copy is ready.Spinward Fringe broadcast 3
3By Spiderfan.2Some might call this a space opera, let me suggest a space soap opera. So far no evil twins, but 2 twins...sort of Romeo & Juliet.1. & R&J.2. It seems like these long space chronicles always bog down in book 3 (Dune, Red,Green,Blue Mars, and....you name the others.). However, the series I've read past book 3 get interesting again in book 4 ...so fingers crossed.Great until ...
3By Rural RabbiThe power and speed of the earlier books fills the writing up until the last quarter of the book. Then the author lets his plans for the sequel overcome good writing skills and asks the reader to lay aside plot and consistency of the story. With his good ability to create believable characters, you'd think that he would allow dead to be dead and create new and believable characters. His slight of hand is unbelievable and unconvincing. A shame considering the immense latent talent.Three Words. Fab u lous!

5By unrulyjI hadn't known about Lalond's work prior to discovering the First Light Chronicles and the adventures of Jonas, Jake, Ayan, and the rest of this well thought out crew and technology. I too would like an AI as soon as possible. I look forward to finishing the series to experience the new developments and the ongoing technology descriptions and developments.
