5By gkloweOne of all time SiFi authors is Andre Norton, who I consider to be world class. That is before read Steve L. Hawk's first book about Grave Justin. I could not but it down, and went on to read all three. It is a A+ novel and series. Keep up the outstanding writing Mr. Hawk. Ken LowePeace Warrior
3By KS melbourneKind of like reading a comic book. Not bad but not fulfilling.Good and Bad.
3By Phisto PhuryIt's a fairly simplistic book. It's a book of black-and-white, good and bad. I got about two thirds of the way through it and then realize it's just not a very good book. But it's not really bad either. And I asked myself an important question, "Who puts the Violents in prison?" Somebody, somewhere, has to be violent enough to put the violent people in prison. Or they just politely ask violent people, hey, please go to prison? The book is just too simplistic. Sorry, it only deserves three stars.Peace Warrior
5By Rom1956While I truly hated the beginning of this book, emphasizing with the horror way too much, I understood the necessity of the contrast between old ways & new. I understand the necessity for standing up against evil in whatever form it appears. I've never understood the necessity for losing thousands & thousands of men for a temporary victory of a few acres of land. Nor do I believe in the necessity for following orders clearly designed for mass cruelty or rank advancement. However, you dealt with mr.blue much more kindly than I wanted to! At the least, he'd have had his mouth taped shut & paid for the action that costs three lives. The concept of this story felt plausible & the direction we have been going in past years feels like we could wash the very life from our peoples. Sure I'd rather no mother lose her son to war, but to not provide for the necessity of war is an error we will pay for even as things are now. It simply isn't possible to live in total peace. I believe in a creator. I believe He gave us the ability to choose life or death. I believe He chose to do that rather than have puppets. And I believe we are always going to run into others who choose poorly & selfishly as well as run up against the laws of nature we can't always be protected from. Your story demonstrated that. You depicted a character who was strong enough to deny the cruelty of others and not be bitter. And you showed that sometimes our choices are very hard but worth it. Thanks for your hard work. Thanks for an entertaining but thought provoking premise. I would like to read more.Very enjoyable read!
5By Mech360Yes, it's "Demolition Man" meets "Battlefield Earth", but a good story, well written and makes you think about "the Human condition". This Author's good, I'll be enjoying book two of the trilogy shortly.Very good book I'm looking to read the rest of them
