Description

John Wayne Cleaver is dangerous, and he knows it.

He's spent his life doing his best not to live up to his potential.

He's obsessed with serial killers, but really doesn't want to become one. So for his own sake, and the safety of those around him, he lives by rigid rules he's written for himself, practicing normal life as if it were a private religion that could save him from damnation.

Dead bodies are normal to John. He likes them, actually. They don't demand or expect the empathy he's unable to offer. Perhaps that's what gives him the objectivity to recognize that there's something different about the body the police have just found behind the Wash-n-Dry Laundromat---and to appreciate what that difference means.

Now, for the first time, John has to confront a danger outside himself, a threat he can't control, a menace to everything and everyone he would love, if only he could.

Dan Wells's debut novel, I Am Not a Serial Killer, is the first volume of a trilogy that will keep you awake and then haunt your dreams.

At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.

  • Horror, but doable for non horror fans

This was the first real horror book from the horror section I’ve read. I picked it up because I’ve loved him on the podcast Intentionally Blank. The book is scary. Don’t get me wrong. But it’s also so weirdly wholesome too. It packs a punch and twists and turns in fun ways. Highly recommend.

An interesting novel at the least, a fine, easy read with some shock and thrills. An enjoyable read that presents a good character, and a well written plot. Some more backstories or side plots would have added more interests for myself. Although was very intrigued by what would happen next. More suspense is the only thing I ask for.
  • A real thriller

This is a story as worthy as a Stephen King novel. It’s one that’s hard to put down. Try it, it’s mesmerizing.

The book was very good until it became supernatural. Please do not waste your money like I did if you are looking for a book that is actually about serial killers and their minds.

Great book I enjoyed every part. Usually I don't like books with demons but this is an exception to that.
  • Ending was a let down

The story was pretty entertaining until the final 30 pages or so. It could have gone in an entirely different direction and been more exciting, twisted and memorable. In the end, a rather lame Hollywood ending. Boo.

I thought it would it better. I didn't like that the serial killer turned out to be and it was predictable. Hope the 2nd book is better.
