1By Tom10293857This is a fantastic book but in the iBooks app it hangs/feeezes over and over and over and over. Restarting the app does NOT fix this bug. Restarting your iOS device does NOT fix this bug. I have lots of other iBooks that all work perfectly. But some combination of this book and the iBooks app is a nightmare. Run! Buy this book on another platform like Kindle.Needs additional info on the pages
3By IMovieloverI like the book overall. It is easy to find the particular book of the Bible you want and then the chapter you want. The available fonts are easy to read. If I could suggest an improvement - please put the name of the book of the Bible on each page. Once you navigate away from page one, chapter one of the particular book, there is no reference on the page to what book of the Bible you are in. Same goes for the highlights you make. It doesn't give you the reference such as Matthew 5: 12-15. It tells you the highlight is on page 6432, but that is not really much help when referring to it later.About as close as one gets to he ideal
4By NRSV: The Best So FarThere will never be a perfect translation, of the Bible or anything else. In the case of the Bible, the task is particularly difficult. First one must determine the text, examining the Hebrew and Greek manuscripts, the one must understand the text, then one must convey the meaning -- without bringing in too much interpretation. The tasks are incompatible. But the NRSV compromises brilliantly. In some of the more damaged books of the Hebrew Bible, such as 1 and 2 Samuel, it makes excellent use of the Greek and the Qumran texts. It rarely brings a theological bias. It tries for close attention to the original language but does not become stiff or misleading. Neither does it become a paraphrase. There are easier-to-read translations. There are more literal translations. There are many, many translations with stronger sectarian biases. But no translation does a better job of being all things to all Christians (and, indeed, non-Christians) than the New Revised Standard Version.NRSV
