Despite what the critics say, I could not put this book down. I was in total suspense throughout the entire book and John Grisham is a master at that. This was actually better then, The Innocent Man, because it was fiction and Mr. Grisham could take more liberties with the facts.

Of all the Grishams I have read, this one actually made me want to cry...for even a short while. When Travis Boyette comes to meet Keith Schroeder, you are ready for the journey, and the chase to begin. I too think that Grisham hits the ball out of the work with this one. And I too believe that we as human beings are foolish to think we are anyone to decide who deserves to live or die.

  • Good, but not his best

I am a big Grisham fan and I have been for 20 years, so I try to read all of his works. They are always well written. Unfortunately, this one did not have the suspense and twists that we're so enjoyable in earlier works. I respect that he actively opposes the death penalty, but this book became more of a advocacy piece than a gripping novel. Maybe that was the intent, and if so, it was well done. As a gripping novel, this one does not rise to the level of his best works. I will be there when the next one comes out hoping for a more traditional Grisham.

If I had ten stars, I'd use them all! One of the distinguishing books in Grisham's storied career, it raised emotions in me that I didn't know even existed, and opened my eyes to the death sentence debate. I say this as a proponent of capital punishment and a long-time Son of Texas. Outstanding book.

This book is amazing. The plot, the characters, the actual book was beyond of what I have expected. One again, John Grisham has done an amazing job on issues that plague us today. This book, although it had some parts I would have rewritten, is amazing. This book is truly worth the price, I had an amazing time reading this book, and I do hope you too, Go ahead and download it!

This book kept me anxious to get back to it each time I had to put it down. An amazing story, with twists and turn you didn't expect. A book that will make you re-evaluate your thoughts on subjects you may have felt firm about. I absolutely loved it. Well worth the money to read and then pass on to others!

I just finished The Confession. It was one of those books I looked forward to reading every evening. It was so good that i had to bring it while on holiday. I recently finished the Jack Reacher novel and was hard pressed to read another. Storyline is ok, but the prose does little for me. In consideration of the genre, my thoughts went to Mr. Grisham. I am a fan of his writing, but haven't read him in a long time. The moment I started reading, I was refreshed to his writing style and language. The Confession is a well written novel with poignant characters and topic. I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I cried in several chapters. Unexpected and griping. Personal and heartfelt. I highly recommend The Confession for your next read.

I am a huge fan of Mr. Grisham. This novel brought to the surface so many emotions. Most of all it makes you think about the inhumane nature of the death penalty. This novel is very sobering and thought provoking. Excellent reading.

I'm a huge fan and have read almost all of the books. I couldn't get into it at all. I tried, I really did. My least favorite Grisham book.

Usually love Grisham for breezy fun predictable page-turning books. The Confession however droned on far too long, concerning itself with Grisham's political anti death penalty stance, rather than a good fun piece of fiction, which is what we look for in Grisham.

Its almost 3:00a.m. on the 4th night of my conclusion of "confession." I only have time to read at night & as tired as i am, i could not put the book down. I am a lawyer in South Texas & have read & still have many Grishom novels in my book collection. Grishom's writing is fabulous! I had the pleasure of hearing Grishom speak several years back & he was as great a speaker as he is a writer, & David Dow was my professor - very intelligent. Lupita Aguilar
