Loved learning about Italy, the language but the suspense was what kept me from putting the book down!

Not bad enough for me to stop reading and trash it but close. Was I reading a travel magazine or sitting in on an Italian language school?

The author has such an amazing way of keeping the reader intrigued.

With throw of a dart John Grisham chooses a great place for this character to start his adventures of freedom. The more I read about this guy, the more I come to like him. This is by far one of Grisham's better works. The more I read about Italy, the more I wanted to understand the language and sample the cuisine.

I'm a Grisham big fan but this novel has a good theme developed with a boring story. Still, most of Grishams book are awesome, I won't stop reading his books. Just a bad day at the office w/this book.

Incomplete. Looks like Grisham's purpose was to enjoy Italy and write off the expense. The ending suggests he just got bored.

This is my first John Grisham book, and I am now a fan, I can't wait to read what else he has to offer.

Time well spent

I agree with another review that said that the first 20 chapters were pages out of Rosetta Stone. It was painfully slow reading with no real ending. Big fan, but far from his best work.

One of my favorites. Great characters and a wonderful story. Another great Grisham book.

Written with the usual smoothness I have come to expect from Grisham, the Broker, has all the twists and turns....changes of fortune and somehow the main character becomes a better human being. I am thinking this last relationship for Backman will be long, happy, and faithful. But the. I believe in redemption for all, even lobbyists.

For the first 20 chapters I thought I was reading Rosetta stone. Then the book got good. The last 10 or so chapters flew by. Not his best but if you are Italian or want to practice Italian a good read.

This book grabbed me by the neck,drew me in and I couldn't wait to get to the next page. A drastic change of pace from his previous books yet He nailed it.

I'm an avid reader, and frankly was getting a bit board. This was a nice variance for Mr Grishom. A bit tedious at times with the touring of Italy, but an inspiring page turner.

The foreshadowing to an exciting end was nice.. The ending was cut short and some characters never evolved into the story..

Didn't think Grisham could pull off technology like this. Great read!
