Description
Violet Winters once had it all but lost it when her husband was murdered by a criminal madman. During a cold winter night Violet has to leave her warm bed to tell her neighbor to turn the music down. And that’s when she meets sinister, scarred, scarily attractive security specialist, Joe Callahan.
She wants to deny it, but Violet can’t beat back the hunger she feels for Joe so she gives in again and again. Feeling it himself, Joe feeds Vi’s hunger, breaking his own rules to keep her in his bed.
Even though Violet had only one man in her life, she’s sure Joe is giving her the signals and Vi decides she’s ready to take a second chance at life and, maybe, love. But Violet doesn’t know the dark secrets in Joe’s past, secrets so soul-wrenching, they’ve drained him dry. With nothing left to give, Joe’s determined to live his life alone and he breaks Violet’s heart.
Crushed by Joe’s betrayal, Violet comes to terms with the fact that, no matter what signals he gave, Joe was not theirs to win. But Violet’s husband’s murderer is obsessed with her and heartbreak again haunts the door of the Winters home. When it does Joe is forced to face the knowledge that he can’t fight Violet’s pull, she’s under his skin and filled him full to bursting.
Joe needs to win her back and put his life on the line to keep Violet safe. But, having had it all once, can Violet endure losing Joe?
Reviews
Loved it
5By emmaugirl93Moved slow , but I’m starting to appreciate the slow pace compared to other KA novels. Joe is probably one of my favorite Alpha males. Only down side was him calling Vi “buddy” so much. Buddy is a term of endearment for a friend, not a lover. This book made me cry and swoon.
4By jg-auntie1Loved Vi throughout the whole book. Joe was the reason for the cry swooning part.Loved this book
5By NoriinnyGreat story, long enough to keep me entertained for days which I loved now that I'm retired. FYI this CAN be read as a stand alone I didn't read any other books in this series before this but I definitely plan to now. Just a really really good book 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽Satisfied!!
5By CMCollazoAfter each KA book I read I think that book is my favorite. I have to say, I loved this one! I laughed out loud and even cried. I enjoyed each character and didn't skip any parts as I sometimes do.. In this book KA got right to the point and made it exciting to read. I wish there was a part 2 to this couples story. Finished the book in 2 days.Excellent!!!
5By Blissfully1Wow...my 1st book by Ashley! It was easily one of the best books I've ever read. Like others I couldn't put it down. Loved Vi and Joe to bits...loved the steamy sex and the suspense. Hated that it ended. This is a must read.At peace

5By vone1310Where do I start? I was instantly sucked in. All characters were fully developed, no holes. Loved the main characters, loved the theme. I laughed, I cried and could hardly stand the heartache but lots of love from family and friends made up for it. Main female character was a strong woman considering her background. Male character was so intriguing. Ending perfect. I highly recommend this book!
