Love this book! Have read it over about 6 times through the years. Very well written. You can imagine yourself there. Love how she portrays tolerance, acceptance and love between cultures. Truly a treasure to add to your library.

I only recently discovered Julie Garwood’s historical romance books and have been going through them like a devouring flame. I really enjoy her sense of humor. "The Secret" is one of my favorites, right up there with “The Gift”. I wish Julie Garwood would continue writing historical romances and continue developing some of the secondary characters in “The Secret”. I’d absolutely love to read about Brodick & Ramsey’s bride hunting expedition to England, tons of potential there. —And also something fun about poor Douglas, Judith’s brother, although it was funny when Iain kept flipping Douglas around like an irritating ferret. Yes, Douglas needs some love. Helen is another character I can see with a happy-the-second-time-around mature love story. I’m not so keen on contemporary romances, so please, PLEASE show us some mercy Julie Garwood.

First romance novel I ever read, I loved it then and love it now!

This novel gives one a great appreciation for historical romances. It makes fiction come to life in the most pleasant way, making one wish to experience those times for at least one day.

I love the novel but the sample copy is mostly excerpt of another novel. I almost didn't buy it. Anyways love the book. I recommend anyone to also read Ransom, The Wedding, and The Bride. If you liked this novel.

One of my favorite books by one of my favorite authors!

This is one of my all time favorite books. I read it at least once a year and the story never gets old. I love the backstory women's rights and their standing in the Clan. But mostly I love Ian and his gentleness. A very enjoyable read with two wonderfully developed characters and equally developed supporting cast. Julie Garwood is at her best with historical romances. More please.....

The first time I read this book was 18 years ago. When I was browsing for books to buy in the App Store, Julie Garwood's name immediately came to mind. I recall reading 'The Secret' and knew I have to buy it. I remembered how the characters were so alive and believable, and how it evoked so much emotions from me that sometimes I would laugh out loud or just tear up, I swear my grandmother thought I was going crazy. This book is a real page-turner, you never want to put it down. I fell in love with Iain and Judith. I really thought Iain was so handsome that I wondered many nights how he would look like if he was real. I thought I want someone to love me as much as Iain loved Judith. When I started reading the first few pages, I wondered if I will find the book as amazing as I thought it was when I was 14. Now that I have finished it... I still feel the same way. For me, this book is still the bomb!!! So buy it and read it! It's surely worth the money. -princess ❤
