A Child Called It
By Dave Pelzer
This book chronicles the unforgettable account of one of the most severe child abuse cases in California history. It is the story of Dave Pelzer, who was brutally beaten and starved by his emotionally unstable, alcoholic mother: a mother who played tortuous, unpredictable games--games that left him nearly dead. He had to learn how to play his mother's games in order to survive because she no longer considered him a son, but a slave; and no longer a boy, but an "it."
Dave's bed was an old army cot in the basement, and his clothes were torn and raunchy. When his mother allowed him the luxury of food, it was nothing more than spoiled scraps that even the dogs refused to eat. The outside world knew nothing of his living nightmare. He had nothing or no one to turn to, but his dreams kept him alive--dreams of someone taking care of him, loving him and calling him their son.

Life changing book5By SenecaTapiaIt was very hard to hold back tears while reading this one but knowing where David is now in his life I had to read it. Not only is the story heart breaking but it is told so intelligently and eye opening. This is one of those series that after you read you’ll never be the same again.
Sad5By wolfdoggiI love it
The ending3By Azalea210What a heartbreaking story of child abuse. However I would of loved to know what happened to the mother, father and brothers. Would of loved to have read that justice prevailed.
Great read5By Brpbrp2A Child Called It is a great read. I could not put this book down. It’s about a child who is singled out and abused by his mother. It’s very interesting and has a happy ending. This book shows that you can overcome your biggest obstacles and grow stronger from them. I would highly recommend this book because it is a very compelling story and makes you grateful for everything you have and is an easy read.
Amazing!5By caarrlittozzzI don’t really like to read, but once I started reading this book I couldn’t let go of it. That how good this book is, but heartbreaking at the same time. I hardly recommend it!
Book5By Jg0924I’ve literally only read two books in my life, The Giver in the 6th grade, and then this one.. mind blown and kept my interest in reading it until the end. By far best book and author. Real eye opener as well!
